Our first of 2026 features Tina Bharani! Dr. Bharani is a clinical fellow in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Iowa. Tina obtained her medical school education from Weill-Cornell Qatar, where she was among the top 1% of students in her graduating class. She then went on to complete her general surgery training at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by the Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, where she graduated from in June 2025.

Between her residency years, she took a dedicated academic year to pursue her passion for metabolic surgery and nutrition and completed a Clinical Nutrition Fellowship at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston. CDC Adopts Contentious Hepatitis B Vaccine Recommendation | Universal birth dose dropped, despite warnings from physicians, medical groups

The CDC's decision to formally drop the Hepatitis B vaccine recommendation at birth is a step backward for public health and threatens decades of progress. Newborn Hep B vaccination has been critical to preventing transmission, protecting infants, and reducing long term liver disease and cancer. Reversing course will only fuel confusion and doubt about vaccines that have been proven to be safe and effective.
