This is a question we frequently get regarding pain relief.
We are a low risk birth center, and with any medical intervention comes risk. We opt for natural pain relief methods such as counter pressure and water birth to keep things low risk and mom's pain levels down.

We hear you! You're excited for your baby to be here and excited not to be pregnant anymore. You're almost there!!

Due dates are just estimates. In fact, only about 50% of first-time moms will deliver by 40 weeks, 5 days.
So, what happens if you fall into this category?
-40 weeks- we have a normal visit.
-41 weeks- we schedule a bio physical profile (BPP) to be done in 3 days-the BPP is an ultrasound and a non-stress test to check on baby's heart and wellbeing to make sure they are still thriving.
-At the time of your BBP, we discuss natural, helpful ways to encourage labor to start.
-We wait it out, encourage rest and relaxation, keep an eye out for any changes, and let baby decide when they are ready to make an appearance.

We can always transfer for artificial induction with an OB or in hospital midwife if you go too long or choose to do so. Most babies will come by 42 weeks, though! Patience is key here. Babies know when to come.
