What Is Angioplasty?
Angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure used to open narrowed or blocked heart arteries and restore healthy blood flow to the heart.

How it works:
• A thin tube (catheter) is guided through a blood vessel to the heart
• A small balloon is inflated to open the blockage
• In many cases, a stent (tiny mesh tube) is placed to keep the artery open

Why it’s done:
✔ Relieves chest pain (angina)
✔ Improves blood flow to the heart
✔ Reduces symptoms like shortness of breath and fatigue
✔ Can help prevent heart attacks

What patients should know:
• No open-heart surgery
• Short recovery time
• Often done with light sedation
• Most patients return to normal activities quickly

Your heart works hard for you—take care of it.
If you have symptoms or risk factors for heart disease, early evaluation can make all the difference.

How pacemakers protect your heartbeat

A pacemaker is a small, life-saving device that helps regulate the heart’s rhythm when it beats too slowly, irregularly, or pauses unexpectedly. When the heart’s natural electrical system fails to send signals properly, a pacemaker steps in—delivering gentle electrical impulses to keep the heart beating at a safe, steady rate.

By restoring rhythm and coordination, pacemakers improve blood flow, reduce symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, or fainting, and help prevent serious complications. For many patients, a pacemaker means renewed energy, improved quality of life, and long-term heart protection.

Modern pacemakers are highly advanced, discreet, and tailored to each patient’s needs—working silently, beat after beat, to support a healthy heart.

How cholesterol builds up in the arteries
Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that your body needs in small amounts. But when there’s too much “bad” cholesterol (LDL) in the blood, it can slowly settle into the inner lining of your arteries.
Over time, LDL cholesterol penetrates the artery wall and becomes oxidized. This triggers inflammation, attracting immune cells that ingest the cholesterol and turn into “foam cells.” These foam cells accumulate, forming fatty streaks—the earliest stage of plaque.
As plaque grows, the artery narrows and stiffens, reducing blood flow to vital organs like the heart. The plaque’s surface can become fragile and rupture, causing a blood clot to form. This sudden blockage can lead to a heart attack or stroke.
Cholesterol buildup is silent—but its consequences can be life-threatening. Early screening, lifestyle changes, and proper treatment can slow or reverse this process and protect your heart.
