To perform the Cinnamon Prosperity Rite, you will need a jar of ground cinnamon and a positive intention for attracting prosperity into your home.

On the first day of each month, stand at the front doorway of your home and take a few deep breaths to center yourself. Hold the jar of cinnamon in your hand and set your intention for prosperity.

Next, take a pinch of cinnamon, place it into the palm of your hand (facing up) and blow it through the doorway into your home. As you do this, visualize the cinnamon spreading throughout your living space, filling it with the energy of abundance and prosperity.

Once you have completed the ritual, take a moment to express gratitude for the blessings in your life, both big and small.

Evidence of Malefic Magick

Living in the information age has gifted those who seek knowledge unlimited access without impunity.

In the context of spiritual and occult wisdom and knowledge, there has never been more content available for the aspiring spiritual seeker to learn and experiment with. While I believe the information explosion is a positive event and an important part of our evolution in general terms, I have a different opinion in the context of spiritual and occult practice.

While I believe everyone has the potential or ability to perform magickal operations and cast “spells,” to an extent, I do not believe everyone should.

In my opinion, witchcraft, sorcery, low magick, “wishing into the wind,” or whichever term you are comfortable with to rouse and work with spirits of place, ancestry, and legend was born from the desire to be free from the chains of oppression and to guide the hand of fate to rewrite the life of those wise ones with a more prosperous outcome.

However, as we live and breathe in the age of information, which encourages a “do it yourself” methodology, there is a disturbing trend of intolerance, entitlement, victimhood, and a general lack of empathy within circles of supposed “spiritual workers.” While I am excited that the spiritual movement has gained popularity to the point where we can reveal ourselves, exchange ideas, and support each other, this is not always the case.

In the spiritual or occult world, this has translated into an increase in cursing, hexing, jinxing, and overall destructive and malefic work. Now, this type of heavy work is as old as magick itself. I will not suggest there no place for it; however, all negative work should be justified and accepted by the spirits and occult practice of the individual “throwing down on someone.”

The unlimited and unrestricted access to spells and formulations is scary because it is unregulated. During the “Old Ways,” individuals seeking information from mystery schools, covens, groves, and the passing down of generational family practices were vetted, coached, and given specific occult knowledge they were ready for or could handle. I’m not speaking to spiritual talent or ability; I am speaking to morality, compassion, and the value system of the aspiring spiritual worker. I admit, I have a mixed opinion on “Gate Keeping.” On the one hand, I believe practices should be open to those whom the spirits accept, even if it is cross-cultural; however, I’m not sure all should pursue such work due to deficiencies in morality.

While I will not reference Karma here because I believe it is easily conflated with Eastern beliefs, I will say that if practitioners continuously throw down curses and hexes without justification, they will open themselves up to the negativity they are attempting to inflict.

After all the years of doing this work, I will say this about cursing and hexing…” when you begin to rely on that type of heavy work, it can be addictive. It can be addictive to the point where the practitioner begins to lose objectivity and will find themselves only engaging and looking for opportunities for that type of work. Again, I am not suggesting karmic reciprocity; however, when you align yourself with that type of energy, you will find yourself changing over time, as the heavy currents of that energy, the spirits tied to that type of work, the negative emotions—the mind of the practitioner will without question be influenced.”

For anyone that is contemplating cursing or hexing work, I would suggest bringing the issue at hand to your altar and attempting the spirits you work with to sort it out for you without trying to ruin someone’s life for something that may seem trivial down the road.

With the annoying public service announcement out of the way, I would say this…be mindful of your energy, the shifting circumstances within your life, and your home and work environment. People can and will attempt to lay down curses through charms, talismans, and other enchanted objects. The image above is a chicken foot charm that was prepared to cause some problems for a local family. However, we found it and took care of it.

A special tip to those practitioners out there who leave charms out and about, if someone knows what they are doing and finds it…they will now have access to you—just something to think about
