Stop comparing yourself to others 💛
As a healthcare professional, I see this all the time: people quietly judging themselves based on someone else's progress, appearance, or lifestyle. Maybe you’ve caught yourself doing it too—comparing your diet, your body, your habits, or even your routines to friends, coworkers, or strangers online.
Yes, I am guilty of this too, I am human.
But here’s the truth: “comparison is the thief of joy” (Theodore Roosevelt)—and often, of progress.
Everyone has a unique body, different genetics, varying life circumstances, and personal challenges you may never see. You can’t see their behind the scenes struggles or efforts towards success. Also, what works for one person may not work for you—and that’s okay. You are not behind. You are not failing. You are simply on a path that is uniquely yours.
Instead of measuring yourself against others, compare yourself to who you were yesterday.
If you are working on a health goal, remember the importance of focusing on small, sustainable steps forward. Make small mindful choices every day; this is where real change happens.
Also, if you are working on a goal that just doesn’t make sense for you, take a moment to determine where this goal came from? Genuinely ask yourself: “Does this truly align with my highest good right now or if it comes from a place of comparison to others?”
Your pace is enough ❤️

I wanted to take a moment and highlight one of the beautiful paintings done at our last event by Mariah W. This was a free form background with a stencil overlay and carefully chosen flowers and butterfly added for symbolic representation. In the workshop, there is the choice to do freeform painting or use stencils and cut out images or a combination of all of these. ♥️

🔵 Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): The Energy of Truth & Expression 🔵
As a naturopathic doctor, I often see how chronic tension in the throat, neck, and jaw is more than just physical—it's often linked to an energetic block in the Throat Chakra.
💬 The Throat Chakra governs your ability to speak clearly, express your truth, and communicate with confidence. When imbalanced, it can affect both physical and emotional health.
🩺 Common physical symptoms include:
• Sore throat or frequent throat infections
• Thyroid imbalances
• Vocal strain or jaw tightness
• Neck and shoulder tension
• Earaches or dental issues
🌀 Emotional & behavioral signs:
• Difficulty expressing feelings or needs
• Fear of public speaking or confrontation
• Over-apologizing, shyness, or feeling misunderstood
• Speaking excessively to fill silence—or avoids speaking out of fear
🌿 Naturopathic & Energetic Tools for Healing Vishuddha:
🎶 Vocal practices: humming, chanting, singing
🖊️ Journaling or daily affirmations like “I speak my truth with clarity and love”
🔵 Work with blue stones like Aquamarine, Lapis Lazuli, or Blue Lace Agate
🧘‍♀️ Meditation focused on authentic expression
👕 Wear shades of blue to encourage openness and flow
🎤Work on public speaking - give talks or join
🗣 Work speaking up for yourself AND listening to others when they speak their truth.

✨ True healing comes when we feel safe to express who we are—fully, honestly, and unapologetically and at the same time, allowing others to express themselves. Supporting the throat chakra is not just about finding your voice—it’s about reclaiming your truth.

💚 Heart Chakra (Anahata): The Bridge Between Body and Soul 💚

As a naturopathic doctor, I often remind patients that healing the heart goes far beyond cardiovascular support. The Heart Chakra, known as Anahata, is the energetic center of love, compassion, and emotional connection—and it plays a powerful role in both physical and emotional well-being.

🫀 When the Heart Chakra is imbalanced, it can show up in the body as:
• Chest tightness, heart palpitations
• Asthma or shortness of breath
• Poor circulation, upper back or shoulder pain

💔 On an emotional level, you might experience:
• Unresolved grief, emotional numbness
• Difficulty trusting, forgiving, or forming close bonds
• Feelings of isolation or emotional coldness

🌿 Naturopathic and energetic support for Anahata healing includes:
💗 Daily acts of kindness—for yourself and others
💗Work on compassion and acceptance by placing yourself in another’s shoes. Or, if you are lacking compassion for yourself, ask “what would my best friend say to me to help me get through this?”
🌬️ Breathwork to open the chest and calm the nervous system
🧘 Heart-opening yoga poses like Camel Pose and Cobra Pose
💎 Working with heart-centered stones such as Rose Quartz, Rhodonite, Emerald, or Green Aventurine
👚 Wearing the colors green or pink to energetically activate this center

From a physiological standpoint, this chakra is deeply tied to the heart, lungs, and circulatory system—and from an energetic perspective, it’s the bridge between the lower (physical) and upper (spiritual) chakras.

✨ Healing the Heart Chakra means softening the edges of past pain, opening to connection, and allowing love to flow—freely and fearlessly.

🌟 Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Where Vitality Meets Self-Empowerment 🌟

As a naturopathic doctor, I often see a direct connection between the Solar Plexus Chakra and the physical and emotional symptoms patients face—especially those related to the digestive system, weight management, stress, and self-worth.

💛 The Manipura Chakra, located above the navel, governs your confidence, personal power, and ability to take action. When this center is imbalanced, the body and mind speak up.

🩺 Common Clinical Symptoms I see:
• Digestive discomfort, bloating, sluggish metabolism
• Blood sugar instability, liver congestion
• Chronic fatigue with no clear root cause

🧠 Emotionally, you may experience:
• Low self-esteem, self-doubt
• Difficulty making decisions
• Anger, frustration, or people-pleasing behavior
• A need for control or trouble setting boundaries

🌿 Naturopathic Support for Solar Plexus Healing includes:
✅ Nutrition that supports liver and gut health (think bitters, warm yellow veggies, turmeric)
✅ Power poses & movement to embody strength (Boat Pose, Plank)
✅ Daily affirmations to rewire self-worth
✅ Wearing or meditating with yellow stones like Citrine, Tiger’s Eye, or Pyrite
✅ Breaking routines and try something new to step into courage
✅ Goal-setting aligned with your values and integrity

🧬 The Solar Plexus is also tied to your enteric nervous system—the gut-brain connection—healing this chakra is both a science-based and spiritual journey. When this energy flows freely, confidence, clarity, and vitality return.

✨ True healing means reconnecting with your inner fire—physically, emotionally, and energetically.

🧡 Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Your Center of Creativity & Connection 🧡
As a naturopathic doctor, I often see how emotional and physical imbalances can trace back to energetic disruptions—especially in the Sacral Chakra.
I’m hosting a workshop on this next month, more info here: https://www.drwinewellness.com/news-and-events
This chakra governs your emotions, creativity, sensuality, and relationships. When out of balance, you may notice:
🔸 Lower abdominal or reproductive issues
🔸 Emotional swings, guilt, or shame
🔸 Creative blocks or fear of intimacy
🔸 Overindulgence or self-sabotaging patterns
This energy center is deeply tied to your pelvis, reproductive organs, kidneys, and lower abdomen.
✨ Naturopathic Support for the Sacral Chakra:
🖌️ Engage in creative outlets (dance, paint, journal)
💧 Connect with water—soak in a bath, swim, or walk by a lake
🧘‍♀️ Meditate on emotional flow and self-acceptance
🧡 Use supportive stones like Carnelian, Orange Calcite, or Citrine
👗 Wear the color orange to stimulate healing energy
Remember: healing isn’t just physical—it’s energetic, emotional, and spiritual, too. Align your sacral chakra to rediscover joy, flow, and pleasure. 🌊💫

When did we all decide that “Playtime” was just for kids? When did we decide that work and obligations took precedence over joy and fulfillment? When did we become too serious?
**Are you doing things that truly light you up from the inside? If so, I would love to hear what you do! If not, what are some ways you can add play into your daily or weekly routine? Try writing out a list of things that fill you with joy and excitement and do one thing on the list this weekend. Be honest with yourself and choose things that you really like and not the things that you think you are supposed to like ;)
🌿 Why Adults Need to Play Too 🎨🎾
Here’s why play isn’t just for kids:
🌟 Boosts Mental Health and Reduce Stress – Play helps reduce stress by lowering cortisol and boosting endorphins. This can help us be more productive and creative in our other endeavors!
🌟 Ignites Creativity – Whether you’re painting, dancing, hiking, or building something, play stimulates your creative brain and problem-solving skills.
🌟 Strengthens Relationships – Shared laughter and fun build deeper connections with loved ones and friends.
🌟 Improves Resilience – Play teaches us how to adapt, bounce back, and handle life’s curveballs with a lighter heart.
🎭 Play can be as simple as laughing with friends, joining a local sports league, trying out improv, or doodling in a notebook. You’re never too old to rediscover joy!
Give yourself permission to PLAY. Your health will thank you. 🫶
