Marcella V. Vossbrink

March 30, 1928 - August 30, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly exceptional woman who was the embodiment of faith, kindness, love, and patience. Surrounded by the love of many for several days, Marcella Virginia Vossbrink (nee Calvin), 97, Washington, MO., passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Marcella, affectionately known as “Mart” by her many relatives and friends, was born March 30, 1928, in Labadie, MO. She grew up in Washington, attended St. Francis Borgia Grade School, and graduated from Washington High School in 1946, serving as Treasurer of her Senior Class and also as May Queen in 1945.

She was united in marriage to classmate Robert “Bob” Vossbrink on November 13, 1948, and they made their home in Washington. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Connie Groff, Jeanne Unnerstall (Keith), Kathy Unnerstall (Tom), Carol Haddox (Duane), and Robert Vossbrink (Moira). She was “Meem” to 17 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she dedicated her life to nurturing her family with unwavering devotion and grace.

Marcella, above all else, was a mother who deeply loved her family and her faith. Nothing was more important. She was an excellent cook, and she always had meals to spare for the many who stopped by, including nieces and nephews. She was a giver by nature, and she never spoke unkindly about anyone.

Marcella has left a profound legacy behind. She was a deeply faith-filled wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved the rosary and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her nature, because of her faith, was to lead by example, and her path through life reflected love, kindness, bravery, taking care of others, and the simple joy of being with family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, from 3:00-7:00 PM at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 8, at St. Francis Borgia Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Charles M. Hart

March 15, 1964 - August 17, 2025

Charles M. Hart, 61, of Washington, passed away on Sunday August 17, 2025. Charles, son of the late Gilbert and Sharon nee Perkins, was born March 15, 1964, in Boulder, Colorado.

He received his education from Washington High School graduating Salutatorian in 1982. He continued his education at the University of Missouri-Rolla, graduating with a master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering in 1988.

On June 6, 1987, he was united in marriage to Lynn Czeschin at St. Francis Borgia church in Washington, Missouri.

Charlie loved everything about science. He worked at two nuclear facilities, Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico and Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina. He finished his career as a Research and Development engineer at Sporlan Valve/Parker Hannifin in Washington, Missouri.

Charlie was a true scientist, recreating Tesla coils, Van Der Graaf generators, cloud chambers along with many gadgets and items. His true passion was to invent things. When Charlie found out he had Celiac, he started brewing his own gluten free beer. His favorite beer was a recipe he made based on his favorite cookie, oatmeal raisin and it was a hit one year at a local brewfest. His experimenting took over in the kitchen also. He made some great desserts just by mixing his favorite things together, never able to recreate them because he never wrote anything down.

Charlie had a heart of gold and a very sharp wit which took most people by surprise because he also was fairly quiet; but among friends and family, he was truly the life of the party. He took great pride in his family and was so proud of his daughters, and he especially adored his two little granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Sharon Hart.

Among his survivors are his wife Lynn Hart of Washington; two children Samantha and husband Patrick Hamann of Washington and Allison and husband Andrew Hoover of Union.

Granddaughters Nora and Ellie Hamann of Washington.

Three brothers; Christopher Hart of Sullivan; Andrew and Tina Hart of Union; Thomas and Gerri Hart of Paola Kansas.

Mother and Father-in-law, Paul and Sylvia Czeschin of Washington.

Brothers and sister in laws; Ralph (Mindi) Czeschin of Krakow, Rodney (Melissa) Czeschin of Washington and Luanne (Tim) Knapp of St. Louis, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Per Charlie's wishes there will be no services. There will be a Celebration of Life planned for Friday, September 19, 2025, at 5pm at The Hummingbird Club in Washington for all friends and family.

Charlie strongly believed in the power of education. To honor his memory, the family suggests contributions to his granddaughters, Nora and Ellie’s college fund. Checks can be made to Lynn Hart.
