Since April, our residents have been exploring the art of felting. Transforming fluffy wool into colorful, useful creations. 🧶✨ We started with sweet little needle-felted Easter eggs and moved on to felted soap, soft washcloths, textured embroidery, and eco-friendly dryer balls.

It’s been magical to watch our community pick up this new skill and turn wool into projects that are as practical as they are beautiful. 💛

First up, our amazing CNA, Mariah, hosted a Make Your Own Terrarium class, where residents layered dirt, moss, and donkey tail plants before topping them with fairy houses, mini ponds, mushrooms, and more. 🌱 Each person left with their own little green masterpiece to nurture and enjoy!

Next, Belita guided a Beginner Watercolor Class, teaching residents how to paint a beautiful mountain landscape. 🖌️⛰️ It was the perfect chance to relax, learn something new, and let creativity flow.

🎨 What if a handcrafted umbrella could raise Alzheimer’s awareness? It can and it is.

The competition is a creative social media campaign led by Spectrum Retirement senior living communities in support of Alzheimer's Association. Each community designed an Artbrella to honor those impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Homestead at Hickory View Retirement Community is proudly representing our region with “Showers of Flowers,” created by residents Gloria, Barb, Kathy, Mary, Karen, Dori, and our Entertainment & Programming Coordinator.

Covered in soft greenery, vibrant blossoms, and fluttering butterflies, this nature-inspired Artbrella is a tribute to the love, memories, and growth that fill our days. Forget-me-nots and purple blooms honor Alzheimer’s awareness and the power of remembering.

With your help, we could win our bracket and advance to the Final Four for a shot at national recognition.

After a full month of painting, gluing, and dreaming big, we celebrated in style with our very first Artbrella Fashion Show!
Residents, families, and staff came together to vote on which of our four stunning Artbrellas will represent us in the company-wide competition. The music was loud, the cheers were louder—and Barb, Jane, Mabel, and Gloria owned that runway.
