It’s been fun to hear about your experiences with musical echolalia, so let’s keep it going! Musical echolalia for a request function is a musical utterance that serves the purpose of asking for something.
A child may want more juice, a new toy, or even just want to grab your attention. We’ve definitely been singing “please, please, please” when making requests lately. Can you think of a time when you heard musical echolalia with a request function?
A child begins to sing “I like to eat apples and bananas” when her father is looking to choose a snack in the fridge. Remember, she isn’t necessarily requesting these specific foods.
