✔️ Reduce background noise
✔️ Speak slowly and give extra time to respond
✔️ Use gestures, writing, or pictures to support understanding
✔️ Use short, simple sentences

💛 Treat the person as a competent adult, even if they struggle to speak. Communication takes teamwork. Small changes = big impact.

🗣️✨ Want to boost your child’s language during play? Try these simple strategies:

🧸 Toy Placement – Put toys slightly out of reach to encourage your child to ask, point, or use words.

🤔 Offer Choices – “Do you want the car or the ball?” Giving options helps build vocabulary and requesting.

🗣️ Self-Talk – Talk about what you’re doing. “I’m building a tower. I put the block on top.”

👀 Parallel Talk – Describe what your child is doing. “You’re pushing the truck! It’s going fast!”

⏳ Time Delay – Pause before helping or responding. Give your child time to process and try using words on their own.

🌱 These small tweaks to everyday play can make a big impact on communication!

Today was Day 1 of our K-3 Summer Articulation Program. The theme was food, so we sang "Apples and Bananas," went on a food scavenger hunt to get supplies to feed Cookie Monster, and read "Green Eggs and Ham."
