Children from across Central Illinois sent heartfelt cards to a local news station, which were then delivered to our residents at Villas of Holly Brook – Pekin as part of a Lifting Spirits letter drive.
These small notes carried big joy and meant the world to our residents. ❤️

During a recent visit to our Villas of Holly Brook in Gibson City, Jacob Dickey spent the afternoon chatting with residents — including a longtime family friend and former neighbor. It was a special time of reminiscing, reconnecting, and sharing more about his role at WCIA and his passion for weather.

Moments like these are what make our communities so special.

It was very nice yesterday afternoon heading to the Villas of Holly Brook in Gibson City to have an afternoon chat with the residents. One of them is Val Hunt. Growing up she was neighbors with us and I have many fond memories with and about her and her husband Tom. She shared a couple stories about us Dickey boys but nothing too crazy. It was so great to catch up with her and visit the residents and talk more about my role at WCIA and my passion for weather.

It’s great to see residents using the buddy system at the store and helping each other out! 💛 going out and about is always nice when you have good company.

We get our residents to the store to get essentials about twice a month. This really promotes their independence and gives them choices for themselves 😌

Katie finished up her live painting today for wind down Wednesday! It took a total of four sessions, or four hours. She had a wonderful time painting for the residents and talking about the process of painting.

Thank you so much to everyone who showed up to watch, and a huge thanks to Blick Art Materials for donating the canvas and paint! This would not have been possible without Blick. Check out their outlet store in Galesburg, it is incredible.

Guided canvas painting class today! It’s all about having a good time - no experience needed! We go step by step and in an hour, you have a winter cardinal!

We had a Moose Mixer party in honor of our outdoor lovers, our country folk, and our happy campers!

We served chocolate mousse, moose munch popcorn, moose tracks frozen yogurt, and blondie dessert dip. We listened to classic country music and dropped in some moose puns here and there. Katie also told a few tales of Alaska and covered other wild facts. It was an un-moosetakeably good time!
