🙋🏻‍♀️Who needs an ALCOHOL ALTERNATIVE for the next couple weeks? We love our MOCKTAILS, especially one like this that is also LOW SUGAR.

None of us have to be perfect during the holidays, but it is certainly nice to have some healthy OPTIONS🥤

Nutritionist, Emily Penn has this one for us!

❤️Cranberry Ginger Mocktail❤️

Ingredients;
5 cups filtered water
2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
Peel of one orange
About 3 inches of peeled, sliced fresh ginger (more if you like it spicy!)
1 cinnamon stick
2 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional)

Directions:
Add water, cranberries, orange peel, and ginger to a pot over medium heat. Once it’s brought to a boil, reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, add the cinnamon stick and simmer for another 5 minutes.

Cut the heat and mix in the maple syrup or honey if desired.

Once cool, strain and store in a jar in the fridge.

Sip on its own or mix with sparkling water or kombucha for a tasty drink!

📕Guys, if you’ve known a while, you know that we’ve had a few community book club events over the years. We just LOVE sharing good reads.

📖This year I realized that most books, movies & shows move way too FAST for my tender nervous system. They freak me out, they amp me up, they contribute to my insomnia.

So I am starting my own one-person Book Club for good books that read SLOW & EASY. Good stories to savor & comfort. My own wholesome reading list.

A great story of mystery, love & witchery on the Amalfi coast of 🇮🇹. That’s all I’ll say. It’s a sweet page turner that will keep you guessing & hoping. Perfect.

👋🏻 Emily Penn here, nutritionist at Ripple, offering my top 3 personal tips to help fend off SAD (seasonal affective disorder):

☀️Get a sun lamp! If you’re up before the sun rises (which many of us are during the winter months), this can really help with mood and energy. It has been a gamechanger for me personally. I just keep it on for a few minutes right when I get up.

🥣Keep meals balanced. Comfort foods and holiday treats ramp up this time of year, but I find that the more consistently you can focus on building balanced meals (veggies, protein, complex carbs), the more you support your mood.

🌲Get outside! Continuing to get outside, even when it’s cold/windy/rainy/snowy, is so important. The combination of fresh air, sunshine, and movement cannot be beat for mood support! Honestly, having the right gear can make all the difference here (warm socks, gloves, waterproof jacket).

These foundational things really help me, and there’s plenty more that I do with food and nutrition to support mental health and mood, in the winter and anytime of year. If you’re curious about how your diet can support your mental health, feel free to reach out to me!
