✨ Provider Spotlight: Vincent Perino, PA-C – Urgent Care, Wasilla

Meet Vincent Perino, a dedicated Urgent Care provider at our Wasilla Urgent Care location. Born and raised in Washington State, Vincent moved to Alaska in 2010 and has been committed to serving Alaskans ever since. He graduated from the University of Washington MEDEX program in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Health Services.

Vincent brings extensive experience working in remote and travel practice settings, providing urgent care across Alaska’s diverse communities. He is passionate about delivering quality, accessible healthcare to Alaskans, no matter where they live.

Outside the clinic, Vincent enjoys shooting sports, camping with his son and their black lab, and volunteering at his son’s school. He is especially dedicated to partnering with local schools and community organizations to promote wellness and health education.

February is Prenatal Infection Prevention Month.
This worldwide observance raises awareness about infections that can be passed from mother to baby during pregnancy or delivery. These infections can be fungal, parasitic, bacterial, or viral, and can lead to serious outcomes such as stillbirth, birth defects, and disabilities like hearing loss.

Research shows that up to 24% of stillbirths in developed countries are linked to infection, but the good news is many prenatal infections can be prevented.

At Capstone, we believe prevention starts with education and early care. Here are steps that can help protect mothers and babies:

Routine prenatal screening to identify infections early

Staying up to date on recommended immunizations before and during pregnancy

Practicing healthy pregnancy habits like good hygiene, proper nutrition, and regular prenatal care

Taking environmental precautions to avoid harmful infections

If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your provider about prevention and screening. Together we can help protect you and your baby. 💙

Eating disorders can impact anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background, and everyone deserves compassion, care, and hope. This year’s theme, Every BODY Belongs, reminds us that all bodies are worthy of respect and support.

We are here to support whole person health. If you or someone you love is struggling with food, body image, or disordered eating, please reach out for help. You are not alone. 💙

February is National Self-Check Month, a reminder to stay proactive about your health by doing regular self-checks and keeping up with preventive care.

If you have not had a physical recently, now is a great time to schedule one. Early detection makes a big difference for conditions like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.

At home, take a few minutes each month to check your skin, mouth, breasts for all genders, and testicles for anything new or changing.

🌟 Service Spotlight: Laboratory Services 🌟

We offer convenient, in-house laboratory services with same-day results on many routine tests, helping our patients get answers faster. We perform blood chemistries, cholesterol panels, blood cell counts, thyroid and hormone testing, and diabetes monitoring right here in our clinic.

We also run many common tests in house, including strep, influenza, mono, pregnancy testing, urinalysis, and drug screens. For added convenience, both in-house and send-out test results can be easily viewed through our secure online patient portal.

Our goal is to provide timely, accurate lab results so you and your care team can make informed decisions with confidence.

Small Changes Can Make a Big Difference!

Our February diabetes classes begin today! We are offering both Tuesday and Thursday class options this month to make it easier for you to attend.

This educational diabetes class is designed to help individuals better understand diabetes and feel more confident managing their health. Participants will learn how diabetes affects the body, practical strategies for blood sugar management, nutrition guidance, medication overviews, and lifestyle habits that support long-term wellness.

The class is led by knowledgeable healthcare professionals and provides clear, practical information in a supportive, judgment-free environment. It is open to individuals with diabetes, prediabetes, and those supporting a loved one.

Please plan to attend all sessions as this is one class that takes place over multiple meeting dates.
