A loss of independence is a common fear among our patients and one we can all relate to.

When we first met Ron more than six months ago, he was living alone and desperate to not lose his independence, but soon admitted that he was needing more care than what could be provided in his home. His Ancora team helped him search for assisted living facilities that would be able to meet his needs, but also allow him the freedom he craved. In May, the answer came in the form of the Pioneer Home in Palmer. Ron shares that while it was a difficult decision at the time, he now sees it as a wonderful transition for him. He continues to enjoy outings on the town, has made several new friends, and feels cared for by all involved. Throughout the transition we have been able to continue providing him the services he needs with the same care and attention as when he was living alone. Ron gives much credit to his home health nurse, Darla, who has helped him through it all, adding that he enjoys and looks forward to her visits very much.

Regardless of your circumstances, we are here to assist you through any situation with a caring and knowledgeable team to help guide the way.

Our core values (Character, Experience & Trust) can easily be seen on our company cars and clothing, but we’re the proudest when they are visible through the actions of our team.

Those named below were nominated by their peers for standing out in more ways than one, leaving a positive impression and always rising above for patients, families, and each other. As one of our leaders shared, “The experience we leave is everything.”

Congratulations to our Q2 core value award winners for providing an experience worth remembering!

Join us in celebrating Marjorie’s milestone 5-year anniversary with Ancora! 🎉

While having a love for dogs is not a requirement to work at Ancora, if you know Margie, you know she certainly fits the bill! Luckily for us, she couples that same loving energy with her vast nursing experience to provide exceptional care to our patients and their support systems.

Margie shared the following quote and said that to her, it’s what nursing is all about: “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Thank you for being a loving presence to patients and team members, Margie!

We could tell you about the impact we see our volunteers make for our patients every day, but you may not realize the benefits the volunteers feel themselves.

Rachelle has been a hospice volunteer with Ancora for more than 1.5 years and graciously opens up about her experience below:

“Volunteering for hospice is very rewarding for me. I enjoy meeting the families and hearing about the life and love of the hospice patient and the family. You see the families’ eyes light up when they reminisce about the patient. To see some sunshine in a time of sorrow makes what I’m doing that much better. I feel fortunate to be able to provide peace of mind for the family so they can run errands or just take some personal time. Being there for someone as their life is coming to an end can be difficult, but why not try to make the transition a little easier on everyone involved.”

When an individual has a life-limiting illness and loses their ability to complete basic self-care tasks independently, such as eating, transferring from one location to another, and using the bathroom, this change in condition may signal that it is time to consider hospice.

If you’re unsure of options and next steps, our knowledgeable staff is always just a phone call away.

Smiles and miles!🚶🏻‍♀️

We gathered a team this morning to go the extra mile in supporting local seniors at Wasilla Area Senior Center’s annual Meals on Wheels event. It was great to see so many familiar faces coming together to make a difference!

Please meet Jen, CNA at our Wasilla location!

If Jen looks familiar, it’s for good reason. As our longest standing CNA, Jen has been a mainstay to our patients and their families in the Valley for years. She is strong and compassionate, caring and encouraging. While she advocates for patients and has undoubtedly improved the lives of others, she credits patients for bettering her life.

Happy CNA Week to our entire team, and all others who assist our patients every day! ✨

It is on clear days such as today that Larry reminiscences the most about his 22 years in the Air Force.

Serving as a Chief Weather Observer, Larry was stationed throughout the US and deployed to Korea, Vietnam, and Germany to support various military efforts. Through his background in forecasting, the Air Force utilized Larry and his skills to support the US Army. By observing the weather, launching weather balloons, and monitoring atmospheric changes, Larry advised on the ability to fly safely, leading to many successful missions. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1982, Larry went on to work at Boeing for 20 years as a programmer where he was able to use his experience and expertise to take Boeing to new heights.

Together with his wife, Nancy, and members of his Ancora Hospice team, including Krystal, Maria, and Christine, Larry was presented with a Quilt of Valor in recognition of his service and commitment to the US. Larry shared that receiving his quilt reinforced his acceptance into the Veteran community for which he is so proud.

We sincerely thank you for your service, Larry, and appreciate you sharing your story with us! 🇺🇸
