Michael Anthony Cramer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Anthony Cramer, born on July 4, 1948, in Tennessee. Michael, a cherished father, consummate outdoorsman, and skilled welder, pipe fitter and furniture maker, left this world on May 18, 2026, at the age of 77, in Water Valley, Mississippi.

Michael was a man of many talents and passions. After earning his high school diploma, he dedicated his life to his craft, working for the City of Memphis before retiring from the University of Mississippi. His hands were always busy, whether he was working in municipal maintenance or running Pine Valley Saw Mill, a venture that showcased his love for hard work and craftsmanship.

Beyond the job site, Michael was happiest outdoors. He had a deep love for crappie fishing and hunting, often disappearing for hours, only to come home with stories that delighted his family.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Kenny) Pilkington of Burlison, TN; two grandchildren, Haley Pilkington, and Kevin (Catherine) Pilkington; and two great-grandchildren, Lillith and Nicholas Pilkington; one sister, Kathy Fisher; as well as many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory in their hearts and fond recollections of fishing trips and family gatherings. He will be missed deeply-not just for his skills but for his kindness, humor, and the love he radiated toward those around him.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026 starting at 10:00 AM with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate a life well-lived.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Cramer; son, David Cramer; parents, Leo Cramer, Florence (Yates) Cramer.

Ollie Vee Judson, Jr.

Ollie V. Judson Jr., a beloved husband, father, and community servant, departed this life on May 16, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on April 24, 1950, in Water Valley, Mississippi, he was the cherished son of the late Bertha and Ollie V. Judson Sr. A proud graduate of Davidson High School in 1967, Ollie continued his education at Mississippi Valley State University until he was called to serve his country in the United States Army.

On August 4, 1972, Ollie vowed to share his life with Irene Judson, and they celebrated a loving union that brought forth eleven children. Through the years, Ollie exemplified what it meant to be a devoted husband and a nurturing father, instilling in his family the values of compassion and service. His guiding principles-"We never turn a child away" and "The work of The Lord must go on"-sounded as lasting echoes in the hearts of those he influenced.

Ollie served as a dedicated member of the House of Prayer Church of God in Christ, where he fulfilled his roles as deacon and Sunday School Teacher, nurturing the spiritual growth of countless individuals. His commitment to his faith was matched only by his desire to help those in need, a legacy he imparted to his children.

Professionally, Ollie contributed over twenty years of service to Emerson Electric until its closing, later retiring from the North Mississippi Regional Center. An outdoor enthusiast, he delighted in tending to his vegetable garden and embracing the tranquility of fishing.

Ollie leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Irene Judson; sons, Preston (Faye) Willingham of Keller, TX, Jason (Tiffany) Judson of Virginia, Vincent (Michelle) Judson of Water Valley, MS, Ollie Velester of Water Valley, MS, Amos (Christine) Judson of Broussard, LA, Joseph (Jennifer) Judson of Water Valley, MS; daughters, Darlene (Eric) Fleming of Water Valley, MS, Tamela Harris of Keller, TX, Cassandra Judson, Jessica Judson, and Coretta Judson, all of Water Valley, MS; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a rich tapestry of extended family and friends who will forever hold him dear.

The family will honor Ollie's remarkable life with a funeral service at the House of Prayer, scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM, following a wake that will commence at 9:00 AM.

As we celebrate the life of Ollie V. Judson Jr., we remember a man whose legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Along with his parents, Ollie was preceded in death by one infant son.

William David Burke

William David Burke, 83, of Oxford, Mississippi, passed away on May 9 after a lengthy battle with heart failure and dementia. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, colleagues, and the many people whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing him. David could make friends in the checkout line of the Piggly Wiggly, and often did so.

David was born in Meridian, Mississippi, on August 11, 1942, to William Otho and Eloise Turnage Burke. He spent a joyous childhood in Newton County creating (mostly) harmless mischief with his favorite cousin, Albert. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1960 and became the first member of his family to attend college. He went on to earn both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in zoology from Mississippi State University, with minors in entomology.

For nearly forty years, he worked at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs, eventually rising to the position of Assistant Director. Over the course of his career, he evaluated the impact of environmental toxins, mapped the coastline, and engineered testing systems that supported marine science research along the Gulf Coast. Though not officially part of his duties, he also became the Research Laboratory’s snake expert, patiently identifying every dead snake brought in by startled local citizens—no matter how many pieces the snake was in.

Outside of science, he was a gifted painter, actor, storyteller, and wit. His one-man portrayal of Mark Twain became the stuff of local legend, and his watercolor paintings still adorn his daughter’s home and office. He possessed a rare combination of brilliance and humor: the kind of man who knew something about nearly everything and could deliver a wickedly insightful turn of phrase at exactly the right moment.

He often joked that Hurricane Camille washed him down to the Coast and Hurricane Katrina washed him out. After Katrina, he relocated to North Mississippi to be near his daughter and grandson. His later years were spent reading, tinkering with an ever-growing armada of secondhand lawnmowers, and delighting in the role he treasured most: grandfather.

The great joy of his life was caring for his grandson, Bremen, who inherited his grandfather’s red hair, b***y sense of humor, and endless curiosity about the natural world. Few things made him happier than sharing stories, jokes, and discoveries with the child he adored.

He will be remembered by those fortunate enough to know him as a brilliant force of nature: endlessly curious, deeply creative, fiercely funny, and utterly unforgettable. His family will remember him most simply as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather whose presence made the world larger, livelier, and infinitely more interesting.

David is survived by his wife, Anne; his children, Meaghin Burke and Gene Carter; his sister Ava Louise Wells; and his grandson, Bremen Earnest. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies.
