Just facts. 💯
Sometimes things suck and you really need a space to vent about it!
Hey, enjoy the tendies and nuggies, whether they are chicken or veggie!
Yeah, where the hell are they?!
Sometimes it just needs to be said. 🤷♀️
When you're neurodivergent and on the internet...
Also I am all for cozy frog onesie pajamas.
Where are all the other introverts at?? 🙋♀️

Therapy isn't helpful if people can't access it. The conversation has to consider all forms of accessibility, or we will never make progress.
Therapy needs to be accessible to everyone!
This is definitely something worth trying!
Evey has a lot of great content, including advocacy for trans rights, ADHD info, and info on DID (as well as some absolutely hilarious posts). She also offers resources, including a learning community, if you want to learn more about these things. If you aren't following her, I highly recommend checking her page out and giving it a follow!
Finally going down the TikTok rabbit hole of content creation!

Never, ever, ever. Being autisitic is not wrong. The world isn't set up for neurodiverse brains. But we can change that.

A traffic violation does not carry the death sentence. Attempting to flee a scene, to get home, does not carry the death sentence. Tyre should not be dead, but thanks to police brutality and abuse of power, he is. My love goes out to his family, and I can't imagine the immense pain they are going through right now.
Black lives matter.
Social media posts show that Mr. Nichols harbored a mistrust of prevailing government and economic systems, yet, a friend says, he also considered trying to change policing from the inside.
Welp, that's one way to approach it.

Post shows a two panel comic with a small raccoon like creature and a crocodile. First panel shows the raccoon saying "It's important to acknowledge and celebrate your feelings". Second panel shows both creatures wearing party hats while the raccoon holds a balloon, and both are seated under a banner that reads "stressed".
Um...*reviews notes*...yup, this checks out!

Bingo. The burden should never be put on those that the system is holding down. Autistic brains are different, not wrong or bad.

I really would like to see neurotypical people stim more and get stuck in with some deeper communication.
Sure, talk about the weather too... but mention how it makes you feel as well.
Talk about your hopes and fears...
Talk about how you really feel....
And do it whilst rocking on the balls of your feet and twiddling your hair between your fingers...
Do it whilst swaying side to side whilst seeking stimulation for your eyes...
Maybe if they try it then it will be ok for us to do it more without fear of being judged for being different weird instead of different unique.
What I'd really like to see though is Autistic people behaving in the ways that are most natural to us with confidence and pride....
And I'd like to see those around us accept us for who we are with grace and respect.
That's what I'd really like to see.

Alright 2023, we're looking at you to deliver us a world like this. We've been waiting long enough.
The neurodivergence might have something to do with this.
Those are some sweet pants, though.
Great intro to body doubling and how it can help ADHDers!
So I've gotten no less than 6 messages and several comments about body doubling since I made that post about body doubling with my dog and that made me realize... folks might not know what body doubling is for ADHD folks.
So here's the thing: folks with ADHD asking you to body double aren't asking you to do anything other than *be there* with them. That's it.
You don't have to help with the task, honestly they *probably* don't want you to help with the task because of that shame cycle we get in.
Here's a *really* quick primer:
Folks with ADHD respond to urgency, novelty, and motivation primarily. They can do something they're motivated to do or something that's urgent. And the motivation part isn't manipulable, we can come back to that in the comments.
Anyway. When I want someone to body double with me, they're adding two things any task I'm doing:
urgency (the person can only be with me for so long) and
novelty (they make for a change in my environment and also give me a way to express my quick thoughts, think through problems in the task I'm doing, etc.,)
For instance: I have trouble writing in isolation. I could easily write a novel in the park or a coffee shop. The other people in that space don't even know they're helping me, but the parameters of the space give me novelty and urgency because I know that my *time* there is limited so I need to make use of it and it's costing me something to be there.
I cooked a *nice* and full dinner for myself last night after weeks of frozen/oven dinners and the reason I was able to power through that wasn't just the prep deck (though it helped) it was that my wife was on the phone with me and helping me externalize and work through my ideas by just *talking* to me.
That externalization is the important part as folks with ADHD have low working memory. Working memory is the part of your mind you're using when someone asks you to, say, remember a number or what it is you're doing when you enter a room. It's short term storage for information you need right now. As folks with ADHD have a disability in working memory you being present can help us sort of externalize that and engage other forms of memory simultaneously.
For instance, me simply saying to you that I want to do the dishes takes the task out of my mind and gives it to you. If I wander from those rails you can simply say, "Hey you were on the dishes now right?"
So yeah, your job summary as a body double is to literally sit there and play on your phone and be a listening ear or a conversation partner while the tasks happen. And you can even be working on something yourself, like a hobby or whatever.
I don't get the body double benefits if I know the person I'm doubling with isn't paying attention to me *at all* though. They have to be there with me. If we're both just working in total silence, it's a no go. I need to talk through my problems and be able to engage multiple sense and modes with a task like movement and speaking and writing.
Anyway! Happy being an accessibility aid to your friends and family, and remember, your mere presence in the room can be life changing for your people with ADHD.
Okay, but do you click that square or not?
Also, this is a fitting analogy of social interactions for many neurodivergent folks.

There really is a lot in the world that needs repair. Stay true to yourself, and we'll keep working to make a better world.
AFAB folks are often misdiagnosed, and that's assuming that they get in for the evaluation in the first place.
I see you. I hear you. Your neurodivergence is valid, even if others don't see it or understand.

The story we were told as children in school about the first Thanksgiving is not how things went down. We need to look to Native history and see the tragedy that has befallen so many people due to aggressive settlement by white colonies.
Here is a good article that gives a little background, and highlights what this holiday means to some Native families across the US.
Some see the holiday as an opportunity for them to celebrate their roots and crush stereotypes.
Rest in power, you beautiful souls.
Whatever we need to do to stop another instance of mass violence against the q***r community needs to be done. Now.

Yeah, there's a good chance someone has told their therapist about you. Don't worry, though, we're great secret keepers!
Come on in and drop an F Bomb or two (or 8), this is your space to do so!
Let's figure out what went wrong together! There's no reason to go alone!
Today is the day for you to make your voice heard! Many of us did not have the right to vote for such a large part of American history. Let's exercise our right to protect our rights!!
You are trying your best, and that's good enough!!
We may not control much in life, but we can make the decision to protect our foot from the monster (or even to protect our whole beings from the monsters of everyday life).
You can do it! I know it can be scary, but you've totally got this!
Be you! You've had a lifetime of practice, so I know you'll be brilliant at it!
You are important, you are valid, and who you are is bee-autiful!!
A little Freud humor for your Sunday.
