Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, and tonight from 7–8pm in every time zone, candles will be lit across the world for the International Wave of Light.

The awareness this day brings is needed, but for many of us, we carry our pain a little heavier today. We are reminded of what we’ve lost, and of what we wish we didn’t understand so deeply.

To the friends and family of bereaved parents, I invite you to please:

🩵 Set an alarm for 7pm
🩷 Light a candle
💜 Text your loved one
❤️ Use their baby’s name, if they have one

These small acts of remembrance matter. They remind us that our babies are remembered, our pain is acknowledged, and we are not alone.

October is a month full of duality for me, a reminder of how grief and love live side by side. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month brings reflection on my own grief and that of the families I serve, and reinforces why we need more perinatal professionals trained to support this type of loss. 🩷💙

After the incredible response to last month’s training, I feel inspired to bring Tides of Life: In-Person Perinatal Loss Training to Ann Arbor to continue this mission with another community of compassionate caregivers!

Join me Saturday, November 8th at Nest & Nurture in Ann Arbor for a full-day training designed to help doulas, nurses, and perinatal professionals feel more confident and prepared to support families through loss.

Your registration includes a digital workbook to support your learning, lunch, and a certificate of completion, along with a day of community and reflection you won’t forget!

A heartfelt thank you to .and.nurture.a2 for sharing your beautiful space, and to for capturing these photos from our last training ❤️

Space is limited, secure your spot through the link in bio!

Today kicks off Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, and I'm so honored to share my story and these duality this month carries for me in this blog post with Detroit Mom🩷💙

The duality of motherhood exists daily. Local mom Ashley is reflecting on pregnancy after loss and the feelings of both gratitude and grief.

I am still holding the beauty and depth of my in-person Perinatal Loss Training on September 20th close to my heart. Eighteen doulas and perinatal providers gathered together in person, filling the room with so much care and commitment! ✨️

Being in community at was so special, and I am incredibly grateful to them for opening their space and providing $500 in partial scholarships to help make this training more accessible!

The natural conversations that unfolded were powerful! The questions asked, the stories shared, and the willingness to learn from one another created a depth that cannot happen alone. I am beyond grateful to Nora of , who helped us reset halfway through with grounding meditation and gentle movement, allowing us to reenter with calmness and openness to receive what can be such a heavy and important topic, pregnancy loss and pregnancy after loss.

I am thankful for the many wonderful humans that made this day possible…for .jackson's steady support in planning and sharing the event, and for who not only captured the energy of the day so beautifully but did so with such thoughtfulness and care!

A big shout-out to and for the fantastic samples of bone broth that we were able to take and share with the families we serve. I am so grateful to know and work with all of these amazing people! ❤️

The commitment to gaining these tools is what will change the care families receive, and I am grateful to play a part in that shift!

❤️ Why every perinatal provider needs loss training

1 in 4 pregnancies ends in loss.
That means every provider works with families carrying this grief, whether they know it or not.

Many parents won’t share their loss because they are used to being minimized. Without the right training, their silence continues.

With this education, providers know what cues to notice, how to ask questions gently, and how to hold space. You become a safe place for families to open up. You give them the chance to feel seen, heard, and fully supported.

Too often, their reality looks like this:
✨ Leaving the hospital with no follow-up or direct support
✨ Postpartum bodies overlooked because there’s no living baby
✨ Grief medicalized instead of witnessed
✨ Early losses carried in silence
✨ Pregnancy after loss filled with panic and fear
✨ Parenting after loss stirring grief alongside joy

These experiences are common. Yet most perinatal trainings never address them.

Perinatal loss education should never be optional. It is needed. It is worth the investment. It matters.

Join me at Rootead in Kalamazoo this September for a full-day In-Person Perinatal Loss Training! Or, if you can’t attend in person, access the Self-Paced Course and learn anytime, from anywhere!

Because every family deserves care that honors their whole story.

Because you deserve the tools to feel confident and prepared.

It was a big day for us ladies!! First day of 7th grade for my loves, and the first day of nursing school for ME!! Between the three of us, there were a lot of nerves, excitement, and sharing about our day this evening! ☺️

I'd be lying if I said this transition doesn't straight up freak me out! My daughters are changing every day moving into teen hood, and taking on the nursing program while managing my own business...well, it's beyond daunting.

AND....I notice how kind, caring, and responsible my girls are while they still glow with childhood innocence (I'm so proud of them).

AND I remind myself of the example I'm setting for them as I work so hard on a business I'm passionate about, while furthering my education so I can create positive change in the world and enhance our financial security.

Today represents new beginnings, new opportunities, and hard work ahead for all of us. And while it's overwhelming at certain moments, I'm so grateful to have these beautiful humans I get to raise, and experience life with ❤️

The Doula Disco this past weekend was fun and informative! It's always invigorating to be surrounded by other birth workers, learning from and supporting each other.

It was a great honor to collaborate with the amazing with , sharing our knowledge and experiences with pregnancy after loss. The energy and vibe between us was electric and natural, and I KNOW we will do more things together...and I can't wait!

Thank you for putting together this incredible event! Doula work is heart work, and we need to continue lifting each other up with love and support. We fill so many gaps, and we need community so we can keep doing this important work with compassion and resilience!

💫 I’m feeling so grateful and honored to share that my story has been published in the Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews from the Maternal Mental Health (MAMA) Research Project through Henry Ford Health System!

In the article, I am represented as Patient 1, sharing my journey through pregnancy loss before the birth of my twin daughters.💙💛🩷🩷

I first shared my story during the MAMA Project’s Storytelling Symposium, which centered the voices of families navigating grief, maternal mental health struggles, and healing. Now, all of our stories have been formally published to highlight the importance of lived experience in shaping maternal health research and transforming care.

I also had the honor of serving on the MAMA Research Project’s Patient and Family Advocacy Council, helping to develop the research questions and dissemination strategies for this project.I am so grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this project alongside such incredible people!

You can read the published article and/or watch my personal Storytelling Symposium video-Links in Bio! 🫶🏼
