In the last 3 years, the Local 1335 has donated almost $15,000 back to local women fighting this horrible disease. The Waterford Regional Fire Department Union is proud to partner with Mission 22 to raise awareness and support for veteran su***de prevention. We're selling these custom t-shirts to raise funds for Mission 22.

WHY IS IT CALLED "MISSION 22”? The name "Mission 22" originates from a campaign aimed at raising awareness about the estimated 22 Veterans who die by su***de each day, based on a 2013 Department of Veterans Affairs report. Their mission is to combat this statistic by providing support and resources to Veterans and their families.

Every purchase makes a difference and a portion of every sale will be donated to Mission 22. Help us show our veterans that they are not alone and that we stand with them.

Did you know…

That Firefighters have a 9% higher risk of developing cancer and a 14% higher risk of dying from cancer compared to the general public?

The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) rated a firefighter’s occupational exposure at its highest level, a “Class 1 threat carcinogenic to humans1.”

Yesterday, staff from McLaren Oakland provided our firefighters with a cancer screening clinic. They are extremely supportive of us and the risks that we take. They know that if we are sick, we aren't able to help our community. We can't thank McLaren enough for supporting us and looking out for our health!

As we wrapped up the 2024 year, the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to a record number of calls for service with 15,027. This year for us saw a lot of personnel changes with retirements, promotions and new hires. Chief Nye was promoted to Fire Chief and has been working hard to continue to drive progress here at the Fire Department! We are excited to see what 2025 will bring! As for our call volume, it has been increasing year after year as our service demand grows. The Fire Department has 9 staffed fire stations, 7 Engines, 2 Ladders,1 Squad, 5 Rescue Trucks and 2 command vehicles staffed 24hrs a day 7 days a week. We are thankful for the support from everyone, we are proud to serve our community! We hope everyone has a safe and prosperous 2025!

WPFFU wants to say special thanks to Kroger for sponsoring our annual Thanksgiving Dinner Donation to families of the Waterford and Pontiac School Districts. This year we were able to sponsor 10 families! Thank you also to our charities committee for continuing this tradition.

Waterford Professional Firefighters would like to thank Benjamin Hunt in his efforts to take supplies to help those affected by the recent hurricane in Ashville North Carolina. Benjamin ( who is a local resident) will be traveling this weekend to take supplies that were donated by people and businesses locally. Waterford Firefighters Local 1335 was glad to help him in his efforts. Benjamin will be taking two large trailers with supplies.

We would like to thank State Representative Mike Harris, and all the other community leaders who came out Friday to Fire Ops 101. It was a great opportunity for our leaders to see what is is like to be a Fire Fighter and experience what we do. We hope our leaders have a better understanding of our jobs when it comes to budgeting and resources.
