Today is World Anaphylaxis Awareness Day.
What is Anaphylaxis?
Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that necessitates immediate medical intervention. It can be triggered by various allergens, including specific foods, insect stings, medications, or latex. Affecting approximately 1-2% of the global population, anaphylaxis poses a significant and growing public health risk. Without prompt treatment, such as administering adrenaline, the consequences can be life-threatening.
Anaphylaxis can occur within minutes, and awareness, preparedness, and education are essential to maintaining safe communities.
We encourage everyone to take a moment to learn the signs of anaphylaxis, understand how to respond in an emergency, and support those living with severe allergies.
Together, we can help create safer environments—at home, at school, and in the workplace.
