On Saturday July 19th at 17:24, members of group 2 responded mutual aid to the City of New London with Truck 15 for a structure fire at 35 Union Street, the Crocker House. Probationary Firefighter King worked with a firefighter from New London in removing a person from the building. Truck 15 was on scene for approximately 3 hours before returning to service. Call back members provided coverage at New London Headquarters while New London Units returned to service.

Yesterday at 16:53, the Waterford Fire Department responded to Charter Oak Federal Credit Union on Hartford Tpke. for a report of a possible electrical fire with the odor of electrical burning and visible smoke in some areas. After speaking with management, a special request was made to start an engine from New London for manpower. After searching the building it was discovered that there was a power surge that affecting the electrical system and there were several lighting sensors that had smoke or heat damage to them with a couple areas with smoke in the walls that had to be opened to search further. The incident took approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Thank you to our mutual aid partner New London Firefighters, IAFF Local 1522 for their assistance.

This morning at 09:50, the Waterford Fire Department was dispatched to Hartford Tpke near the Henny Penny for a 2 car motor vehicle accident, reported to be a T-Bone. Units arrived on scene to find a 2 car accident that was a T-bone with 3 occupants between the 2 vehicles. One of the operators were unable to exit their vehicle requiring extrication to remove a door. In total there were 2 patients transported to the hospital for evaluation of their injuries and one patient refusal. Hartford Tpke was closed for a short time during the incident.

Tody our local awarded this year's Brian Anderson Memorial Scholarships. The recipients are Waterford High School seniors William Lathrop and Brielle Kenney. William will be attending University of Connecticut while Brielle will be attending University of Massachusetts Dartmouth this fall. We wish them both the very best in their collegiate futures.

Earlier this evening our members responded to a 1 car motor vehicle accident involving a roll over on Boston Post Road. The operator of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. The road was closed for a short period of time and has since reopened.

This morning our members responded mutual aid to the Town of East Lyme, to I-95 Northbound between exits 71-72 for a tractor trailer fire. Our members operated on scene for approximately 3 hours and have since returned to service.

Friday night @ 2155 Companies 2 & 5 were alerted to a MVA on Route 32 at the intersection of Richards Grove Rd. While the call was being dispatched units were updated to the possibilities of serious injuries and entrapment with possibly a motorcycle involved, this precipitated Company 1 being added to the call for manpower.
E21 arrived on scene first to find 2 vehicles that were involved and they were approx 350ft apart on opposite sides of the divided roadway. No motorcycle was found to be involved. Units had 1 patient who was still in a vehicle and was not entrapt and 1 patient who had self extracted from the other vehicle. Both patients were transported to L&M Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries by Waterford Ambulance Service and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Paramedics.

This morning, our members were presented with gifts. The Oswegatchie School fifth grade class gave us donuts, monster energy drinks, and a goody box of chips, snacks and so much more. Plus…..they gave us a donation of $65.00 in cash and a ziplock bag of change. Thank you Oswegatchie fifth graders, you’re all so generous!!!!!

Friday April 25 @ 2048 hrs Waterford Fire Companies 2, 4 and 5 were dispatched to Rt 395 in the area of Exit 5 for a motor vehicle accident. Rescue 57 , Engine 21 and Engine 42 responded as well as Engine 11 from Co 1 for manpower. While enroute companies were updated by dispatch that ELFD Car 1 was on scene reporting 1 victim trapped in a vehicle with non-life threatening injuries, R57 arrived shortly after reporting 1 vehicle under the gaurdrails and 1 with heavy damage and requiring a "door pop" for extrication. E21 and E11 arrived simultaneously and extrication was started and the patient was removed from the vehicle in 8 minutes. E42 provided blocking and manpower. Waterford Ambulance Service took over patient care and transport along with the Lawrence & Memorial Paramedic, the occupants of the other 2 vehicles were evaluated and both signed refusals. The scene was turned over to the CT State Police and FD units cleared the highway by 2125hrs

Yesterday was a busy brush fire day in the area. Our members responded mutual aid to the Town of East Lyme to assist with a brush fire at Rocky Neck State Park. Shortly after returning from East Lyme, our members then responded to the City of New London to assist with a brush fire in Bates Woods.
