Evaluation of patches with lavender essential oil and ibuprofen showed that lavender essential oil significantly increased the release and permeation of ibuprofen through the skin (2-fold) when compared to a patch with only ibuprofen. In addition, the lavender patch released the ibuprofen more quickly showing a more rapid therapeutic effect. This suggests that a pain patch with lavender and other pain-relieving actives has promise for pain management.
