Focus on Diabetes is thankful for the leadership team that is always ready to serve. The Focus on Diabetes leadership team consists of career healthcare professionals that led community education and outreach. Did you know that the Focus on Diabetes leadership team is leading cancer research and education through their cancer research intiative and as part of the Black Hawk County Cancer steering committee, and community advisory board, a partnership between the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer center and the Iowa Cancer Consortium.

Focus on Diabetes is thankful to not only help train the next generation of career healthcare professionals, but also champion new opportunities for them; such as the accelerated nursing program orignally between Hawkeye communit college and Upper Iowa University. Hawkeye College still offers an accelerated, 2 plus 1, registered nursing program that helps students earned their associate degree in nursing faster and cheaper than traditional 3 plus 1 programs.

Focus on Diabetes is thankful to be helping to train the next generation of career healthcare professionals. Over the years, high school student volunteers at the Cedar Valley Focus on Diabetes have graduated from the health sciences programs from Allen and Hawkeye Colleges. We have watched them grow from high school students, to college students that are helping with free screenings, to graduation and returning working on behalf of their corporations.
