Locke Funeral Services It is our purpose to fairly, honestly, and compassionately offer our help to individuals planning before their funeral and families at the time of death

It is our purpose to fairly, honestly, and compassionately offer our help. We offer our help not only to families at a time of death, but also to individuals in planning before the funeral. Our help is available after the funeral through a wide range of services and resources. It is also evident in our involvement in the community. We believe we have a responsibility in helping people make the right decisions for themselves by providing information and explaining options which are available. When a decision is reached, our help is available to carry out your instructions. In 1945, C.P. Locke pledged that we would be "Where your wishes govern." That same pledge holds true today, as we offer a four-generation commitment to Integrity, Service, and Excellence. We measure our success by your satisfaction in our help.

Honoring someone we've lost doesn't always happen in grand gestures or public moments. Often, it's the quiet everyday things that hold the most meaning. Here are a few thoughtful ways to honor someone:

🤍 Cooking their favorite meal
🤍 Sitting with a memory instead of sharing it
🤍 Keeping a voicemail, note, or handwritten card
🤍 Visiting a place you shared
🤍 Writing your thoughts and memories in a journal
🤍 Listening to their favorite song

There's no right or wrong way to remember someone. What matters most is what brings you comfort and keeps their presence close.

Sadly, scammers often target grieving families, knowing emotions are high and paperwork can be overwhelming. Being aware of the most common scams can help protect your loved one's legacy and your family's peace of mind.

Here are a few common scams to watch for:

🚨 Fraudsters may claim your loved one owed money. In most cases, legitimate debts are handled through the estate—not by family members personally.
🚨 Scammers may impersonate agencies like the Social Security Administration to "update records."
🚨 Some scammers may send emails or invoices claiming you need to pay to close accounts.
🚨 Obituaries can reveal enough personal information for identity thieves to open accounts or file false claims. Keep details minimal and monitor credit reports for anything suspicious.

If something feels off, pause before responding and reach out to your funeral director or a trusted advisor for guidance.

In today's world, our phones go everywhere with us—but at a funeral, they deserve a moment of silence, too. Keeping your device out of sight is a small but meaningful way to honor the family and the memory of their loved one. Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:

▪️ Silence or turn off your phone before entering the service.
▪️ Avoid texting, scrolling, or recording during the service. Being fully present shows care and support.
▪️ If you need to take a call, step outside quietly.
▪️ Unless the family has specifically requested or permitted photography, it's best to refrain.

These simple steps help to create a space of comfort and respect for all who are grieving.

When a loved one passes, the term "next of kin" becomes especially important. It refers to the closest living relative—often a spouse, adult child, or parent—who is legally recognized as the primary decision-maker during funeral planning.

If a person hasn't pre-planned their funeral, the next of kin is typically responsible for making these decisions on their behalf. If that person is you, you're not alone. At Locke Funeral Services, we're here to gently guide you through every step of the planning process.

Choosing between cremation and burial is a deeply personal decision, and understanding the differences can help families feel more confident.

🤍 Cremation offers flexibility. Cremated remains can be kept, scattered in a meaningful place, or buried. It allows families extra time to plan a memorial.
🤍 Burial provides a traditional place of rest, giving loved ones a dedicated space to visit.

Both options carry meaningful ways to honor a life. Whatever you choose, we're here to answer your questions and provide compassionate guidance. Contact us: https://bit.ly/3JsMPSd

At Locke Funeral Services, we believe that advance funeral planning should be a simple and compassionate process. We work in three stages:

1. Gather Information: Your funeral director will provide you with information about your options, answer questions, and provide guidance.

2. Choose Services: At this time, you'll be able to choose everything from the specifics of your funeral service to the casket or urn you want for your internment.

3. Payment: Choosing to pay for your funeral expenses in advance means locking in your pricing and relieving your family of a potential financial burden during an already difficult time.
