Wishing a Happy Easter to all! Friday's Easter egg scavenger hunt was a fun-filled experience for everyone who participated. They found 16 eggs and completed the scavenger hunt.

A UCC worship service led by Pastor Poole kicked off the day, followed by chair exercises, a creative egg-dyeing activity in rice, an Easter egg hunt, and a relaxing afternoon of music featuring Jeff Wisely on saxophone.

Our second employee to spotlight for April is Bonita Lieb. Bonita has been with us since the first of this year, we also lead her away from the Waterloo-Wal Mart store, where she worked for 20 years! She was born in Red Bud, grew up here in Waterloo, where she graduated from Gibault High School.

Bonita met the love of her life in the Dairy Queen parking lot and they shared 41 years together. They were blessed with a daughter, named Crystal, 43 years old and she has a grandson, Andrew who is 21. She does have a cat, named Baby, that is 9 years old. Some of you may remember her mom and dad, Marvin and Monice, they used to live in our community!

In Bonita’s spare time she enjoys crocheting. She has always admired John Wayne and Katherine Hepburn, they were both incredible actors.

Bonita told us she loves working with all the residents here at GP, every last one of them!

We love having Bonita on our team! She has a wonderful attitude, always willing to help and we’ve heard how kind she is to everyone. Thanks Bonita for all you do and so happy you work here!

Our first April staff member we are spotlighting is Desirae Hardy!

Desirae joined us just two months ago. We ‘stole’ her from our local Walmart store, where she worked for 30 years, now that’s an accomplishment!

She was born and raised in Decatur, IL. She graduated from Argenta-Oreana High School, in Argenta, IL, which is just north-east of Decator. She’s also lived in Dupo and Rantoul.

Desirae met her husband while working at Wal-Mart and they’ve been together for 20 years. Some of her favorite hobbies are reading and putting puzzles together (we need to sign her up for our next puzzle mania).

Looking back, she feels her mom was the most influential person in her life. She always stayed positive, no matter what!

Desirae is really enjoying working in our community, especially with the residents. She’s enjoying the many personalities that make up our family, from the quiet to the loud, to the sassy ones too! She has some great co-workers as well. She’s not one who likes being in the spotlight, but we wanted to share her story and welcome her to the family.

We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter yesterday! 🐣🌷

Residents and their families enjoyed a delicious brunch buffet featuring egg and bacon casserole, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, and enormous cinnamon rolls. To make the day even more special… the Easter Bunny hopped in for a visit! The adults loved it as much as the kids. Our mailman even got in a photo opp!

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff who helped decorate everything the night before, and to our day team who served our residents and their families with such care and kindness.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we loved celebrating with you! Wishing you all a happy and blessed Easter from your friends at Garden Place! 💛
