It is with great pride that we announce our two long term care facilities, Samaritan Keep Home and Samaritan Summit Village, have been Nationally Recognized for Dementia Care. The Center for Applied Research in Dementia has granted the facilities Bronze-Level Credentialing in the Montessori Inspired Lifestyle® program.

The Montessori Inspired Lifestyle® is a research-based model of care that empowers residents by focusing on their strengths and abilities, encouraging independence, and fostering meaningful engagement in daily life. A 2016 study of assisted living residences and skilled nursing facilities that received Montessori training found a significant decrease in medications needed by residents and instances of resident wandering and agitation within one year. It also noted improvements in residents’ sleep quality and their ability to complete activities of daily living (ADLs) such as showering, dressing and eating.

We are very proud to have earned this credentialing, and we will continue to find ways to improve the care we provide at Samaritan.

Samaritan Keep Home and Samaritan Summit Village have achieved Bronze-Level Credentialing in the Montessori Inspired Lifestyle® program, a distinction granted by the Center for Applied Research in Dementia.

THIS is what the holiday spirit is all about! Emerson Dutton, a fourth grader, decided to ask for donations to the Keep Home for her tenth birthday. She came in with a cart full of blankets, socks, games, soaps, candies, and best of all, hand-crafted cards and notes from her and her peers.

Emerson says she has a tradition of giving back to the community on her birthday, and this year she wanted to make the residents smile with gifts and kind words. She says her friends were excited to contribute as well!

She is an amazing young lady to have such a philanthropic mind and heart. Thank you, Emerson & friends!

Please join us in congratulating the winners of the OWL Award (Outstanding Workers in Long Term Care) for August and September at Samaritan Summit Village and Samaritan Keep Home.

These dedicated employees were so busy providing exceptional care that their award presentations were briefly delayed.

At Samaritan Summit Village, Caren Joy Beboso, Home Health Aide, was honored for August, and Danielle McLean, Administrative Secretary for Assisted Living, was recognized for September.

At Samaritan Keep Home, the August honoree was Kathleen Wilken, Certified Nursing Assistant, and the September honoree was Calandra Bryant, Nurse Practitioner.

Each of these caregivers is known for providing exceptional care and compassion to co-workers, residents, and visitors. They consistently go above and beyond to improve the lives of those around them. One nomination noted, “Their contributions have a lasting positive impact on both residents and colleagues alike.” Another stated that they “leave a lasting impact on both residents and colleagues.” With this level of professionalism, our long term care services continue to be exceptional.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses can be given to a nurse at Samaritan Medical Center or any outpatient clinic. The BEE Award can be given to any Samaritan Caregiver who supports patient care. The OWL Award is presented to long term care employees at both Samaritan Summit Village and Samaritan Keep Home. Every month, nominations are collected and submitted to a committee for selection. The names of nominees and nominators are redacted to ensure a fair selection process. To nominate a Samaritan caregiver, please follow this link: https://samaritanhealth.com/.../the.../daisy-and-bee-awards/

⚠️ ❗ Facility Improvement in Progress: ❗⚠️

Please be advised that Samaritan Keep Home, our skilled nursing home connected to the Medical Center campus, will receive a new roof starting soon. There will be heavy equipment present and lots of work happening. There is no impact to resident and visitor traffic or parking, only to staff and vendors. We look forward to this project being completed before winter.
