Community Class Tonight @ 6:30PM 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️

Join us this evening, and every Friday, for our donation-based Community Flow Yoga class. This offering is rooted in the spirit of seva, or selfless service, a core principle of our studio.

Seva is about giving from the heart, not for recognition or reward, but to uplift others. This class is one small way we open our doors to everyone, regardless of financial ability. Whether you’re joining to move, breathe, or simply be in a welcoming space, you belong here.

If you’re able to donate, know that 100% of proceeds go directly to our Seva Scholarship, which provides free or low-cost yoga to members of our community who might not otherwise have access to a studio class.

This space is built on community care. Let’s keep giving back, together.

✨ See you tonight at 6:30PM.
✨ Every body welcome, every Friday.

Every Monday, I put in a 15-hour workday.

I wake early to prepare my home for the week ahead, setting up for daycare, organizing the space, and getting everything just right for my little crew. As soon as daycare wraps up, I shift gears and head straight to the studio to teach. After class, I stay a bit longer to take care of a few quiet tasks I intentionally leave off my weekend to-do list.

This rhythm is part of my Tapas, a Sanskrit term meaning discipline, effort, and the inner heat that drives transformation. Tapas isn’t about burnout; it’s about devotion. It’s showing up with love, again and again, even when it’s hard. 🔥

And I love this studio. Some nights, after everyone has gone, I just sit here in this window. The silence settles around me like a soft exhale. It’s one of the only still moments in my Monday, a pause I cherish before the week really begins.

Here’s to the work that fills us up, the spaces that hold us, and the stillness that reminds us we’re right where we need to be.

Were the ancient yogis actually nervous system experts? I truly think… YES.

Let’s look at Samādhi Pāda, the first chapter of the Yoga Sūtras.

Samādhi Pāda teaches that the goal of yoga isn’t to “achieve” anything externally, it’s to become deeply still, internally balanced, and fully present.

“Yogaś citta vṛtti nirodhaḥ”
*Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.*

In modern language, this is nervous system regulation.

We now know that many ancient yogic practices directly stimulate the vagus nerve, the major communication pathway between the brain and body that governs our ability to feel calm, safe, and connected.

Everything in Samādhi Pāda reads like a manual for nervous system regulation and mental wellness:
•Meditation = mindfulness + vagus nerve activation
•Chanting = vocal vibration → vagal tone improvement
•One-pointed focus = reduced sympathetic arousal
•Non-attachment = emotional regulation
•Inner stillness = parasympathetic dominance

Ancient yogis didn’t use terms like vagal tone, neuroception, or polyvagal theory, but they absolutely knew how to feel and shift their internal state.

Samādhi, the deep absorption they spoke of, is what we might now call a highly regulated, coherent nervous system, calm, clear, and deeply connected..

So yes… IMO they were the OG nervous system specialists.
