On August 11th, The Town of Watertown held a Family Picnic at Westcotts Beach. This is the 3rd year we have done this and is a lot of fun for the kids and a good chance to meet spouses and family. In order for all members to be able to attend, we were able to bring in members from Indian River Ambulance, Mike and Amanda, both former employees from here as well. They covered our station from 11-1800. We truly appreciate the help. We help them with coverage during their Christmas Party as well to return the favor. Here are a few pictures from the weekend festivities.

Your care begins when you call 9-1-1.

Stroke: If you experience any of the symptoms listed in the graphic below, call 9-1-1. A trained medical dispatcher will determine your complaint, dispatch the closest ambulance, and provide you with instructions on what to do while you wait.

When the ambulance arrives, they will assess you and recommend transportation to the hospital best equipped to care for your emergency. They will continue to care for you and let the hospital know that you are coming.

If your symptoms meet stroke criteria, the hospital team will be waiting for you and ready to act because they have been notified by the incoming ambulance. You will receive a fast exam and head to CT to confirm or rule out stroke. If there is a confirmed stroke, interventions will begin immediately to help prevent or limit the disability that can be caused by this disease.

Town of Watertown Ambulance would like to congratulate Jennifer, our newest Paramedic on recently passing her NYS certification examination after 10 months of rigorous education through MVCC. Jennifer was previously an AEMT with our agency and has taken this step to be able to provide a higher level of care to the patients she encounters. Congratulations Jennifer!

One year ago today the Town of Watertown Ambulance Service received a grant from the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Benefit Fund for a new cardiac monitor. We received the new monitor earlier this year making all of our devices the same across the 3 ambulances. We are so grateful for the kindness of this organization and their support of emergency medical services.
