β™»οΈπŸš Hazardous Household Waste Collection Day is coming up, and for the first time EVER, v**e devices will be accepted for safe disposal thanks to the collaborative efforts of DANC, Jefferson/Lewis/Hamilton/Herkimer/Oneida BOCES, Jefferson County Public Health Service, Watertown City Fire Department, the Alliance for Better Communities, & the Youth Alliance! πŸ‘

Why is this important? Disposable v**es are more than just litter β€” they contain lithium-ion batteries*, plastics, ni****ne residue, and harmful chemicals that can leak into our soil and waterways when thrown in the trash or on the ground. They also contribute to microplastic pollution and can even cause fires when improperly disposed of. πŸ”₯🌎

By properly recycling v**e devices, we can help protect our environment, wildlife, sanitation workers, and our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible! πŸ’šβ™»οΈ

*HHW Collection will not be accepting lithium-ion batteries other than those found in v**e devices.

πŸ‘–April 29,2026 is Denim Day. We commemorate this day as a powerful reminder that what someone wears is NEVER AN EXCUSE FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT.

This day began as a protest against victim-blaming in a landmark court case and continues to challenge harmful myths that silence survivors. Wear denim, stand with survivors and help spread the message: consent is clear, clothing is irrelevant and
everyone deserves to be safe.

❗️HAPPENING TONIGHT! ❗️

There will be a public hearing at 7:15 (meeting starts at 7 PM) at City Hall in the Council Chambers.

Currently, the City's proposed budget does not include the Zoo with any public benefits service funding. Past investments from the city have helped the zoo recover from financial crisis, and now, we are seeking PARTNERSHIP, as opposed to rescue.

With continued financial support, the zoo can continue with the progress we have been steadily and undoubtedly making.

Improvements in:

- Facility Maintenance
- Animal Habitats and Continued Care
- Conservation Work
- Educational Programming
- Community Events and Services
- Long-term Stability
- New Attractions and Offerings

As the zoo is still correcting and enhancing its trajectory, we do NOT want to lose the city's financial support. If we all work together to continue the zoo's hard work and efforts, the results will benefit the community, the county, and all who love and support animals.

If you have thoughts about this, please attend the meeting tonight! We hope to see many zoo supporters there.
