For 20 incredible years, our Second Chance Prom has been so much more than just a fundraiser. It has been a night of hope, laughter, friendship, healing, dancing, memories, and community. 🩷 Because of all of YOU~ our sponsors, supporters, volunteers, donors, survivors, fighters, caregivers, and friends~ Codington County Cares has been able to help so many local families during some of the hardest moments of their lives. What started as a dream during my own cancer journey, quickly became something bigger than we ever could have imagined. This year’s Emerald Ball and our 20th Anniversary celebration was incredibly special to all of us. A time to step back and take a look at all we have been able to accomplish...
With that being said, and as emotional as this is to type out, we have made the decision to move Second Chance Prom to an every other year event moving forward. This decision was not made lightly. Planning this event takes many months, countless hours, and an enormous amount of energy behind the scenes. While this event means the world to us, we also know that in order to continue making it special and sustainable, we need to give ourselves a little more time between events. Please know this does NOT mean Codington County Cares is going anywhere. 🩷 We will continue helping local cancer patients, supporting families, raising awareness, and finding NEW ways to bring our community together. We simply want to make sure that when Second Chance Prom returns, it is as magical, meaningful, and memorable as it deserves to be.
To every single person who has attended, sponsored, donated, volunteered, decorated, danced, laughed, cried, shared our posts, bought tickets, or believed in our mission over the last 20 years…thank you will NEVER be enough. You helped create something truly beautiful. We are already looking forward to the next Second Chance Prom…just with a little extra time in between. 🩷
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for 20 unforgettable years. We love and appreciate all of you more than you know. 🩷 We hope to see you at Prom in March of 2028 and we would love for you to flood this comment section with Prom pictures of the past!!
