We’re thrilled to celebrate a Pathfinder-supported health clinic in Dahshour, Egypt that just won the national “Building Trust in Primary Care Centers” award from the Ministry of Health and Population! This win reflects the power of Pathfinder’s Women-Led Climate Resilience model in Egypt, which achieves impact through:

✨ Leadership & Capacity Building: Training staff in communication skills to build community trust.

🌿 Sustainable Green Clinics Model: Piloting climate-friendly health care, a model now adopted by the Ministry of Health and Population.

Dr. Fatma Sayed Ali, Director of Dahshour clinic, shared: "The basic communication skills acquired from the training helped staff understand how to interact with patients and earn their trust."

Minister of Health and Population Dr. Abla El-Alfy visited the clinic, highlighting the green infrastructure; climate-conscious staff training; and focus on women's economic empowerment—the clinic features a loom women can use to develop their weaving skills, create products, and generate income.

This award validates our belief in sustainable health care that addresses the full spectrum of people lives.

Congratulations to the entire Dahshour team! Together, we're building a healthier, more sustainable future for Egyptian communities.

Women&Co has officially launched in Nigeria and we are thrilled to share this moment with our growing community. Over the past year, we have shaped an innovation platform that puts women's leadership at the center of solutions for health and climate.

In October, women leaders from across sectors came together to help refine the vision and priorities for Women&Co, contributing ideas that continue to guide our next steps.

In the months ahead, we will will spotlight the insights that emerged and the actions we are moving forward together.

To ground this journey in purpose, here is Pathfinder's Dr. Amina Aminu Dorayi on why Women&Co exists and why Nigeria is leading the way.

Kano State, Nigeria faces critical health worker shortages—there are only 3 health workers per for every 10,000 people. This workforce gap puts immense strain on frontline staff, especially the Community Health Extension Workers ( ) at rural primary health centers.

To address this gap, Pathfinder and Impact Catalysts, in collaboration with government partners, are rolling out the Task Shifting and Task Sharing (TSTS) policy. This includes hands-on training in core primary health care competencies, from maternal and newborn health to family planning, immunization, and data use through clinical mentorship.

The initial results from this practical, supportive model are promising:

Health workforce shortages plague Kano state’s health system in Nigeria, where for every 10,000 people, there are only 3 health

We proudly launched Women&Co in Nigeria last month—an innovation platform that powers women-led solutions at the intersection of health, climate, and economic resilience. Women&Co brings together women leaders from diverse sectors to accelerate women-led innovation.

As Dr. Adanna Steinacker, Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Women’s Health said: “By building a community where women lead solutions across health, climate change, entrepreneurship and governance, Women&Co embodies the kind of collaboration and creativity that our nation needs to renew systems and unlock new possibilities.”

In Ituri Province, DRC, social media has become a powerful tool for women and girls to promote their businesses, share expertise, and build strong community networks. However, digital violence and harassment often force them to disconnect from online spaces.

In response, Pathfinder DRC, with funding from the European Union through Enabel and in collaboration with Feconde (Congolese Women for Development), is implementing a campaign to eradicate digital violence against women and girls.
Launched in alignment with this year’s theme for of Activism against Gender-Based Violence— for Online Abuse—the campaign uses dialogues, educational sessions, and radio broadcasts to promote positive masculinity and gender equity. The campaign aims to mobilize communities, especially men, boys, and local leaders, to speak up against all forms of gender-based violence.

The campaign will run until December 10, and will reach more than 10,000 people across Ituri Province. Together, let’s put an end to online abuse!

Climate change—and its downstream impacts on health, livelihoods, and wellbeing—is linked to increased rates of gender-based violence. Because of this disproportionate threat to women and girls, shifting harmful gender norms and practices is a critical component of building climate resilience.

In honor of of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we’re proud to share our new Toolkit for Applying a Gender-Transformative Approach to Women-Led Climate Resilience. Informed by our women-led climate resilience work in Bangladesh and Pakistan, this toolkit provides practical guidance for promoting women’s leadership and agency in improving community resilience to climate change and expanding access to quality health care.

Coming up next Tuesday, December 9! Join Pathfinder International and the Global Green Growth Institute for our hybrid climate and health advocacy workshop in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia has demonstrated commitment to building resilience to climate change. The Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP-II, 2024–2028) and the Building Climate-Resilient Health System (CRHS) Guidance aim to integrate climate resilience into health policies through enhanced multi-sectoral coordination and stronger adaptive capacity. However, systemic barriers—such as weak governance, limited climate data integration, funding shortages, and inadequate community engagement—hinder effective implementation.

Please join Pathfinder International and Global Green Growth Institute for a hybrid workshop on advancing the HNAP-II. This event will foster dialogue, share best practices, and mobilize stakeholders for HNAP-II operationalization.

We recently joined a session at the African Regional Convening toward Women Deliver 2026. The session spotlighted the leadership of African women and youth in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights and community development through resilience, innovation, and advocacy that is reclaiming civic space and shaping policy.

Our own Lilian Githuka emphasized that evidence only creates impact when it is paired with lived experience. Without the voices of women, youth, and people with disabilities, data risks flattening reality rather than revealing it. Stories don’t just complement policy - they strengthen accountability and help direct resources to where change is most needed.

Progress takes root when communities are not treated as data points, but as co-creators of the narrative that informs decisions.

At Pathfinder International, this principle guides our work. From community-led programming to Women&Co, women innovators and grassroots leaders are centered as changemakers.

Because if a policy doesn’t work in people’s lives, it doesn’t work at all.

Grateful to AllAfrica Global Media and Melody Chironda for capturing these voices.

We are celebrating a massive win for science this ! 🌍💉 Lenacapavir, the new twice-yearly injectable PrEP, is rolling out in countries like Zambia and Eswatini.

But even the best innovation medical fails if people are too afraid to walk into a clinic.

Whether it's the 37% of people living with HIV who battle internalized shame, or the discrimination faced by 49% of transgender people, judgment is blocking access to care.

Innovations save lives, but only if we build a world where people are safe to use them.

According to the 2025 Gender Snapshot, violence against women and girls is one of the most pervasive—and preventable—human rights violations in the world.

Yet less than 1% of humanitarian funding is spent on gender-based violence prevention and response.

We can't afford to wait. In honor of of activism against gender-based violence, join us in calling for greater investment in proven pathways to women's agency and autonomy, including:

✔️ Comprehensive legal, social, and health system protections for survivors of gender-based violence.
✔️ Women's economic and financial empowerment.
