Let's meet another intern:

Hi Hayden!
Hayden is currently working in our Housekeeping Rotation. Hayden is thorough in his work and is very curious. Hayden's mind is always ticking, wanting to learn how things work. Hayden is a friendly guy with an eager smile. We love seeing Hayden make gradual improvements toward independence.

What a beautiful fall day it is at
And no day is complete without or from

Today's recipe encompasses all of the comforting flavors of fall - Apple Butter Pork Chops

Recipe:
4 pork chops
1 onion, sliced
1 honey crisp apple, sliced
1/2 cup apple butter
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp mustard
1 rosemary sprig
3 sage leaves
Salt and Pepper to taste

In a skillet, cook pork chops 3-4 mins each side.
Whisk together Apple Butter, water, mustard, and salt.
Remove pork chops, add apples, onions, rosemary, sage and salt to pan.
Saute onions 5 mins. Add Apple Butter mixture back to pan. Return chops to pan.
Enjoy!

Let's meet Patrick!

Patrick is one of our interns who is currently working in Housekeeping. Patrick is kind and eager to work with a smile on his face. Patrick knows many staff and residents at by name. He is quick to say "Hello" all while helping keep the Marquardt clean and safe for all.

Rotation #1 is in full swing!

Let's take a closer look at our interns in action.

Meet Darius (D)!
D is currently rocking it in our Dietary Rotation at the Marquardt. In this rotation, D assists with meal clean up, clearing tables, dishes, and bringing meals to residents (residents not photographed due to privacy). D works hard and always with a smile on his face. The dietary team frequently comment on what a delight it is to work with D. The residents look forward to seeing D each day.

Way to go D! Keep on rocking it in Rotation 1!

Catching up with on some Recipes of the Day!

Today's posted recipe of the day is Easy Slow Cooker Salosbury Steak. Perfect for a cool fall day πŸ‚

Easy Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak
2 lbs. ground beef
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup of bread crumbs
1/4 cup of flour
2 tbsp. Veggie oil
3/4 cup water
1 pkg. dry Onion Soup mix
1 pkg. dry Au Jus mix
Splash of milk

Combine beef, bread crumbs, milk, and soup mix. Shape into 8 patties. Dredge in flour. In skillet, heat oil, and brown patties. Place patties in slow cooker. In bowl, mix cream of chicken soup, dry au jus mix, and water. Pour over patties. Cover and cook on low 4-5 hours

Serve and Enjoy!

Slow Cooker Peach Glazed Pork Chops
4 boneless pork chops
1 cup peach preserves
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 tbsp olive oil

Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
In skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
Sear pork chops.
Mix preserves, chicken broth, soy sauce, minced garlic, and mustard. Pour mixture over chops in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. When done, remove chops and spoon glaze over pork chops.

Serve & Enjoy!

Pork Burgers
3 slices bacon
1/2 onion - chopped
1 lb. ground pork
3 tbsp. BBQ Sauce, plus more for basting
1 - 1 1/2 tsp.
1/2 tsp. salt
4 oz. Sharp Cheddar Cheese
4 Onion Rolls

Cook Bacon, remove and set aside
Cook onion in the bacon fat for 3 mins.
Crumble bacon. Add ground pork, 3 tbsp BBQ sauce, salt, and onions.
Shape meat mixture into four patties.
Cook burgers and baste more BBQ Sauce on, 5-8 mins per side.
Top with cheese, cover till cheese melts (1 min).
Serve on rolls with toppings.

Bird Dog Sandwiches:

Sauce -
1/2 cup Mayonnaise
2 tbsp BBQ Sauce
2 tbsp Honey
1 tbsp Yellow Mustard
1/2 tbsp Dijon Mustard
1/2 tbsp lemon juice

Sandwich -
4 Breaded Chicken Tenders
4 Bacon Slices, Cooked
4 Hot Dog Buns

Toppings -
Tomatoes, Onions, Dill Pickles

For Sauce, whisk all ingredients in a bowl. Cover and place in fridge. Cook chicken tenders. Cook bacon. Assemble Sandwiches: Spread sauce, add chicken, bacon, and toppings.

Serve and Enjoy!!

Every day one of the The Marquardt residents, Mark, delivers a hand-written recipe of the day.

Today's recipe is No Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake. πŸŽƒ
A dessert that is perfect for the fall πŸ‚

*Photo Description*

Recipe:
Crust -
11 oz Nilla Wafers
1 tsp. Pumpkin Spice, divided
8 tbsp Butter, melter

Cheesecake -
12 oz softened cream cheese
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup Pumpkin Puree, not pie filling
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
16 oz Cool Whip, divided

Toppings -
Remaining Pumpkin Spice and Cool Whip

Directions:
Crust - Finely crush into crumbs. Save 2 tbsp crumbs for later. Mix melted butter and remaining crumbs. Place mixture in springform pan. Freeze.

Cheesecake - Cream the cream cheese and brown sugar 4-5 mins. Mix in puree, vanilla extract, and pie spice. Mix for 2-3 mins. Gently fold in 3 cups of
Pour onto crust. Cover and chill overnight.
Add more , reserved crumbs, and pie spice on top.
