Summer Reset Vibes 🌞 With the podcast taking a little summer breather (after nearly 8 years and 350+ episodes, it’s time!), I’ve been thinking a lot about what summer offers us: space.

To breathe. To reflect. To reset.

Not in a big overhaul-your-life kind of way, but in those small moments that help us feel more us.

So what might that look like for you?

Maybe it’s sitting quietly for five minutes in the morning with your coffee without your phone in your hand (yes, please!)

Maybe it’s heading out for a walk and leaving your earbuds at home—just you, the birds, and your thoughts.

A Summer Pause… and a Thank You 💛 You know I love a good rhythm, and for almost 8 years, the podcast has been part of mine (and maybe yours, too!). With over 350 episodes, we’ve explored everything from nature walks and planks to eating a bagful of M&Ms and everything in between.

And now? It’s time for a little summer break.

The podcast is heading into a hiatus as I take some time to reflect, recharge, and see where we’re going next. So much has been shifting for me personally and professionally—balancing my work with Get Lively and fundraising in the arts has opened up a new kind of joy and creativity I didn’t necessarily expect… but I’m finding it quite lively.

At the end of the day, it all ties together: movement, color, connection, and doing what makes us smile.

So, while new episodes are on pause, the archives are always there for you—350+ episodes full of pep talks, movement motivation, and real-life reflection. If something speaks to you or sparks an idea, I’d love to hear about it.

More to come soon.

Member Highlight ✨ Diana Najarian

Diana came to Get Lively after training with Matthew—so we knew right away: she knows what she’s doing and her form is impeccable! She’s always locked in to what’s happening in class… even while laughing alongside her workout buddy Beth.

A longtime educator who’s taught biology and chemistry at both high school and college levels, Diana is also an excellent student. Whether it’s a new movement or a shift in tempo, she’s always tuned in and ready to go. She brings a quiet determination and a great sense of fun—especially when the group breaks out into a jog around the studio. “You can tell everyone is comfortable with one another,” she says. “It just feels good to move and have fun together.”

That spirit of community is what first drew her in. “In my first week, I was greeted by name by every instructor and introduced to others in class. That never happened at any other gym I’ve been to. That’s when I knew this was a special place.”

Outside the studio, Diana is a puzzle lover, a knitter (she’ll take orders for baby items!), a former soccer player, and a volunteer tutor with Project Literacy. She and her husband are on a quest to visit all 50 state capitols, and she still talks about her life-changing Outward Bound experience in her 20s—backpacking, whitewater canoeing, and discovering that heights aren’t really her thing.

Diana, you’re a total pro and a total joy—we’re so glad you’re part of the Crew.

Happy 4th of July week!

You know how much I love this time of year. I talk about it all the time, and I just can’t help myself—especially when we’re soaking up all this light.

That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking about lately: the light. And not just how great it is that it’s staying light later, but how the contrast between light and dark really changes our perspective.

We’ve all been grumbling a bit about the weather lately—classic New England June—but still, there’s something about waking up to light and having those long days that just makes everything feel… lighter. More possible. More energized.

Lately, I’ve been walking early in the morning with Franny, and it’s become the best part of my day. We’re up at 5, sneakers on, birds chirping, sun rising, and it just feels good. I don’t overthink it. I don’t guilt myself into it. I just go—and it sets the tone for everything else. Whether it’s a day at the studio with the Lively Crew or at New Art asking our community for support, I feel like I’m starting with intention and presence.

And you know what I’ve realized? Contrast is the teacher here. These light-filled days are amazing because we’ve had those dark, cold 4 p.m. sunsets. That same perspective is shifting how I think about everything—even the studio. As I’ve stepped back from being there every single day, I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for it. The energy. The community. The joy. Sometimes, you need space to see things in a new light (literally and figuratively).

So I’ll ask you what I’ve been asking myself:
Where do you need to notice the contrast?
What feels hard or stuck or “meh”—and what might shift if you approached it differently?

And if you’re someone who usually dreads the dark days creeping back? I get it. But maybe they help us appreciate the light that much more.

Anyway, just some musings from me to you. Let me know what this brings up for you—I always love hearing from you.
