Two Hearts Birth Support

Two Hearts Birth Support Two Hearts Birth Support is a doula service for all birthing people, regardless of race, gender iden

The mission of Two Hearts Birth Support and Erin Hudson Hartley is to make sure that every birthing person feels supported and in control of their birthing experience to the fullest extent possible. While outcomes and clinical decisions can not be guaranteed, Erin will work with the birthing parent to ensure that their wishes and desires for birth are understood clearly going into labor and delivery, and will help to support the parent every step of the way. Erin grew up in the South, and remembers fondly speaking to her aunt (a mother of eight!) about the birth of her youngest child, which occurred at home, attended by midwives. While a midwife-assisted homebirth isn't the path for every parent, she remembers being struck by her aunt's joy over having been able to birth on her own terms after seven hospital births that were largely directed by clinicians. As a doula, Erin sees her role as helping every client and their birth partner to first plan for the birth they want, and then to support them in making their own choices as much as is medically possible. Doula services consist of prenatal visits (1 or 2 depending on the desires and needs of the birthing parent), physical attendance at the birth (as COVID-19 restrictions allow) or virtual attendance (in the case of hospitals that will not allow for an additional person to attend the birth), and a postpartum follow up visit (in person or virtual) at or around 10 days after birth. In labor and delivery, Erin will serve as an extra set of hands, a supporter of your choices as a birthing person, and a cheerleader for the birthing person and their partner throughout the process. If you or someone you know in the Boston area is seeking the care and support of a doula, Two Hearts Birth Support would love to speak to you. Each prospective client will receive a complementary 30 to 60 minute consultation with Erin before hire. Please call or message directly through this page to see if Erin might be the right doula to help make your birth a more comfortable and empowering experience.

Pregnant or trying to become pregnant? You may be a little nervous about what the COVID-19 vaccine means for you as a pregnant person. Evidence Based Birth, one of my favorite resources, has gathered a great deal of information from different studies, and put it all here on one page as a quick reference.

The trauma caused by white supremacy is literally damaging the ability of Black birthing parents and babies to have healthy pregnancies and births, in addition to every other messed up thing about it. If you have the ability and the time, I ask everyone (especially people who are or one day may be birthing parents) to read this and take the words to heart.

Black women have the highest rates of birth complications and maternal mortality in the country. How does police brutality feed these disparities?
