Samaritan Summit Village Activities Coordinator Gary Montondo is always happy to sit down for a game of cards, a chat, or a puzzle!

Residents have daily activities which can be done in a group, or independently. These activities support socialization, motor skills, mental stimulation, and good old-fashioned fun.

Samaritan Medical Center has been nationally recognized for our commitment to providing high-quality stroke care. We are very proud to announce our Gold Plus award designation by the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke program.

Get With The Guidelines puts the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest research- and evidence-based guidelines. Get With The Guidelines – Stroke is an in-hospital program for improving stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to these guidelines, which can minimize the long-term effects of a stroke and even prevent death.

Please join us in congratulating our DAISY and BEE Award recipients for the month of May!

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses® recognizes exemplary nursing staff, and the BEE Award honors other outstanding staff members who are excellent every day, both at the hospital and outpatient clinics.

Nigel Mascoll and Joseph Roche, Registered Nurses (RN) at Samaritan Medical Center, received the DAISY Award for May. Crystal Sutton, a Home Health Aide with Samaritan Home Health, received the BEE Award for May.

HAPPENING TODAY: Do you care for a loved one with Alzheimer's? Consider joining the Caregiver Support Group through the Alzheimer's Association. Samaritan will host this support group on the fourth Tuesday of every month at Samaritan Summit Village from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

This is a safe space for caregivers and loved ones of someone living with Alzheimer's to get support, share stories, discover resources, and gain helpful information. Please register by calling 315-472-4201 x227.

For more information, you can visit www.alz.org/cny. If you are unable to attend these in-person sessions, there are video and phone consultations available through the Alzheimer's Association as well.
