WSU Extension Chelan/Douglas Counties Bringing the power of Washington State University to our local communities!

We offer research based, hands-on education, support local partnerships, and provide practical tools to help individuals and families live healthier, more successful lives. SNAP-Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education) has been serving Chelan/Douglas/Okanogan County communities since 1991. Our goal is to educate families with limited income, providing knowledge and tools to develop

healthy eating habits, cooking and shopping skills, and incorporate physical activity into their daily lives. We visit schools with 50% or more free and reduced lunch program participation, to teach youth about the importance of eating whole grains, fruits and vegetables, using fun hands-on activities. SNAP-Ed partners with local agencies and complements food assistance programs by working directly with people to provide science based education that builds skills needed to provide themselves and their families with nutritious, low-cost and safe food.
