The Counseling program at Husson University located in Bangor, Maine, is seeking one or more full-time, core, ranked faculty members to begin in the Fall of 2025. Husson University seeks to recruit, employ, and retain a diverse faculty to create and support an inclusive learning community.
Husson University is a small, private, not-for-profit, University offering on-campus and online programs. It is located in beautiful and desirable Bangor, Maine. Bangor is a small city in the center of Maine with an international airport, a major hospital, five colleges and universities in the greater area, and easy access to the coast and the mountains of Maine.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching core and specialty graduate courses in our CACREP accredited MS in School Counseling and MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs. The successful candidate will serve a nine-month renewable contract and be eligible to work toward a multi-year contract. Primary responsibilities include teaching a graduate course load of nine credits per semester, with options to teach during summer sessions as well. Experience in teaching and serving within a CACREP program, expertise and practical experience in School Counseling or School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling is desired. The successful candidate may teach and/or supervise practicum students and teach internship as part of the teaching load. Responsibilities also include advising students in the programs and engaging in service and scholarship activities following the Boyer model. Recently approved by CACREP to offer online delivery of coursework in addition to face-to-face, the program will be developing online offerings in the near future.
Education and Experience
Earned doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program or a doctorate in a closely related field. An applicant with a non-Counselor Education doctorate should have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one academic year prior to July 1, 2013.
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of excellence in teaching in counselor education
Familiarity with accreditation standards (CACREP) and assessment practices.
Experience teaching practicum and internship
Licensed or license-eligible in clinical counseling and/or school counselor certification
Training and experience in supervision
Experience in developing online course delivery helpful
