Bless 🙏 all of those owners that practice working with their horses feet.

If your horse don’t stand almost perfectly it’s You, the owner’s responsibility to get that horse ready for the farrier.
Whether that be you working with the horse or sending it off to a trainer, either way that needs to be done before you call the Farrier out for hoof care.

The foot, its related structures and the role of biomechanics are often top of mind as hoof-care providers when assessing health and soundness. When managing laminitis or other pathologies, metabolic monitoring and veterinary teamwork come into play. Though, other aspects of equine health may not fe...

White lines disease thrush, and Seedy Toe…
Started putting more responsibility back on the client.

If your horses suffering from white lines, disease, thrush, or seedy toe, it is a clients responsibility to fix that…
A farrier working with the horse anywhere from 5 to 8 weeks schedule treating the white lines disease and thrush is not sufficient.
We can do recective work and treatments however………..
The hooves need treated on a daily or weekly basis in these cases.
That is a responsibility of the owner.

The nails and shoes will not stay on horses feet that are suffering from severe white line disease and thrush.
it’s the difference in driving a nail in a cardboard versus driving a nail into hardwood.
Obviously, the nail is not going to hold in cardboard, like it would hard wood.
If you’re noticing your horses feet cracking and chipping away you have a very high likelihood of having some white lines disease going on underneath the hoof wall and that is primarily the reason you’re getting cracked feet and chipping and breaking..

Well this isn’t good…..

📢 Important Update for Farriers and Equine Professionals

Effective August 29, 2025, the U.S. government officially ended the de minimis exemption, which previously allowed imported goods valued at $800 or less to enter the country duty-free.

🔹 Background:

The change was enacted through an Executive Order signed on July 30, 2025, expanding on a prior order that eliminated the exemption for shipments from China and Hong Kong earlier this year.

Now, all international shipments — regardless of value — are subject to applicable tariffs and duties.

🔹 Impact on the Farrier Industry:

Farriers and equine professionals who source tools, nails, rasps, shoes, or other supplies from international vendors should anticipate increased costs and possible delays.

Overseas retailers who relied on this exemption may see significant changes to their pricing and shipping models.

This shift may also influence purchasing decisions, potentially making domestic suppliers a more reliable option going forward.

The Farrier Industry Association will continue to monitor developments and provide guidance to help members navigate these changes.

📌 Recommendation: Review your supply chains and budget for potential increases in costs on imported products.

The always talk about the blood 🩸 being at the same level as the Apex of the frog… It has been my experience that the blood 🩸 is closer to the ground surface as shown in this picture. However I do take notice of where the Apex of the frog is then I take my measurements from there and determine how much toe to take off….
