The “Why?” Behind MungeBoxes.
Growing up and hearing stories about your parents and family members not always having enough food hits pretty hard. Hard enough to make a memory.
Finding out friends that you grew up with didn’t always have enough food hits pretty hard. Hard enough to make an impact.
Finding out what it’s like to not have food in front of you hits pretty hard. Hard enough to inspire, to bring about change, change that breaks a pattern, change that makes a difference.
The supplemental meals that MungeBoxes give out are to reduce disadvantages and negative stressors that some face to increase the opportunity for growth and/or change of those individuals' current situation. Notice that I said, “reduce”, not remove all. To remove all negativity, all pain, or all problems is not only impossible, it is also destructive and provides an indirect disadvantage. Stressors bring about a desire to change, and during the process of change, both growth and knowledge occur.
Hence, the goal behind providing supplemental meals through MungeBoxes is to take one worry off of someone's plate by putting food on their plate.
So, if MungeBoxes helps to take a worry off of a kid's plate to allow them to get that good grade, achieve that goal, or allow them to think further ahead into their future, not just to where their next meal is coming from….Welp, I’d be pretty happy.
If MungeBoxes helps to take a worry off of a parent's plate and they remember the goals they let go of, they remember the life they gave up on, or they remember the dreams they quit chasing…Maybe they get back to chasin’, and if so...Welp, I'd be pretty happy.
