Q: What's the most common comment you get from patients in your waiting room?
A: OMG, these African Violets are amazing!

So, we share some background for the curious:

The African Violets 🌺 in our waiting room are propagations from the one and only Jeanne Honan, Dr. Schamel's grandmother. We like to think that these flowers, which are known to symbolize committment and devotion, thrive in no short part to her spirit in our day to day. Jeanne was a mother to 8, a volunteer for many community and civic organizations, and tireless advocate for special needs children. She showed up for her people, and seeing these flowers reminds us that we can do the hard things too.

(And also, our rec: bottom watering planters/moderate indirect sun 😉)

Happy Nurses Week!
We are so grateful for all the nurses that help our patients on a daily basis—-at home, in the hospital, in the OR, in offices, and over the phone.
Thank you to Ivy Lane Flowers for helping us celebrate our very own nurse Amanda this week!

What's your Movember look?!!!??

During the month of November the organization Movember challenges us to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health diagnoses. See here how you can participate in their challenges: grow a mustache for the month, get in 60 miles of movement during the month, talk to your colleagues, etc.

What a fun way to raise $ and awareness about these important issues!

We have been so appreciative of your kindness, patience, and general support this last week as we mourn the loss of Dr. Schamel's sweet nephew, Shea.

Many have asked for specific ways to be supportive. Below is a link to donate to Shea's Play Fund, which will be used to build playgrounds and enhance play in the places he loved, or wherever the world is lacking.

Shea sparked smiles and belly laughs wherever he went. Like no other, he embraced the fun and silly and joy, and all the things we know are good for minds and bodies. Lets bring his spirit to all the places.

From his balance bike to his two-wheeler, Shea loved riding his bik… Cornelius Callanan needs your support for Celebrate Shea's Life: Support Shea's Play Fund
