I'm Dr. John Hansford, a dual board-certified pediatric dentist and dental anesthesiologist, committed to making dental care safe, accessible, and compassionate—especially for children and patients with special needs who can’t get treatment elsewhere. With advanced training in anesthesia, I specialize in helping even the most anxious or medically complex patients receive care comfortably. I lecture and consult internationally on topics like systemic diseases, dental anesthesia, and special care dentistry, and I take pride in mentoring the next generation of dental professionals. At our family-run practice in Watkinsville, we’re not just treating teeth—we’re creating positive dental experiences for kids and peace of mind for parents. ✨ Office Holiday Party 2025 🎉
We wrapped up an incredible year with a dinner party at .alegre.seafood — surrounded by good food, great laughs, and the amazing people who make Athens Area Pediatric Dentistry feel like a second home. 💚💙

This year, we celebrated the milestones, the challenges we’ve overcome, and most importantly, each other. From honoring our long-standing team members to welcoming the new faces who’ve already made such a big impact — we are so grateful for the tight-knit work family we’ve built. Every single person in these photos plays a vital role in helping us provide the best possible care to our patients.

2025 was a big year: our office got a fresh new look, we welcomed many new patients into our care, and deepened our bond with the families who trust us year after year. Your support means everything to us, and we can’t wait to continue growing and caring for our community in 2026.

This morning, we found our mischievous office elf clinging to the front door wreath like he was trying to break into the Nice List HQ! We don’t know what mission he was on—but judging by that Yeti hoodie and those blue toes, it’s safe to say he’s prepared for whatever elf-ing weather comes his way! 😂

This year’s Spooktacular Day was all about community, compassion, and a little bit of spooky magic 🧙‍♀️🦷

In partnership with the incredible UGA Dental Minority Dawgs (.dmd , we provided free dental treatment under anesthesia and nitrous to children in need—because every kid deserves a healthy smile, no matter their circumstances.

🧡 Thank you to all the families who came through, to our volunteers, and to our amazing team for making this day so special. We’re honored to give back in the most meaningful (and festive) way!

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming our friends from into our office! 🦷💜

Dr. Tradd Harter joined Dr. John Hansford in a special case where a young patient needed both orthodontic care and dental treatment under anesthesia due to high anxiety.

These two pros teamed up to make it as smooth and comfortable as possible for the patient — all in one safe visit. 💯👏

This is Dr. Hansford, right where he thrives — in surgery, caring for a young patient under general anesthesia. As a double board-certified pediatric dentist and dental anesthesiologist, he’s one of the few specialists in the country trained to provide comprehensive dental care under full sedation — safely and comfortably.

🛑 While we always aim for the least invasive treatment, some little smiles need more support — whether due to extensive dental needs, anxiety, or special health considerations.

💤 From laughing gas to IV sedation to general anesthesia, our office is fully equipped and every procedure is carefully monitored — because your child’s safety and comfort come first.
