How our family is approaching sun exposure this summer ☀️

We believe our bodies were designed to live in harmony with the sun, but modern life requires us to be more intentional with how we approach sun exposure.

This summer, we’re prioritizing morning sunlight for circadian rhythm support, better sleep, mood, hormone health, and overall wellness. Some emerging research also suggests our skin’s repair mechanisms may function differently depending on the time of day, which is one reason we try to get outside earlier whenever possible. It’s a perfect opportunity to enjoy some coffee and playtime outside in the morning!

What this approach looks like for us:
☀️ Morning outdoor light
☀️ Gradual sun exposure
☀️ Avoiding burns & overexposure
☀️ Protective clothing when needed
☀️ Choosing mineral sunscreen over chemical sunscreen

When we need to use sunscreen, we prefer mineral-based options, especially for our kids. Mineral sunscreen sits on top of the skin to reflect UV rays, while many chemical sunscreens are absorbed into the skin. Choosing simpler, cleaner ingredients matters to our family.

People are often curious about the noise that can come from a chiropractic adjustment, so let’s talk about it!

When a quick adjustment is made to a joint, the pressure inside the joint changes, which can lead to the formation and release of gas bubbles, creating that “popping” sound.

One common misconception is that the success of an adjustment depends on how much noise was made, but that simply isn’t true!

I’ve personally had adjustments with lots of noise and very little change afterward.

I’ve also had life-changing adjustments where no noise was made at all.

So what should we actually be focusing on instead? 👇

• Was this the area that needed an adjustment?
• Was the adjustment given in the correct direction?
• Was it the right adjustment for this person at this time?

The goal isn’t noise; it’s function, movement, and helping the body to heal the way it was designed to.

Symptoms are usually what grab our attention, but they’re often signals that something deeper is going on.

Muscle spasms are a common example we see in the office. Patients may come in with severe, even debilitating spasms, but that spasm is often the body’s intelligent way of protecting a joint that doesn’t feel stable or safe.

When we’re able to restore proper function to that joint, the spasm doesn’t need to be there anymore, and it will often relax on its own.

The goal isn’t just to get rid of the symptom.
It’s to correct the reason it showed up in the first place.
