When kids struggle with anxiety, attention, and chronic fatigue, we often look everywhere except one place.

The vestibular system is working all day, every day, anytime we are against gravity. When it is dysregulated, it does not just affect balance. It can impact energy production, focus, and even blood flow.

In this case, testing showed severe vestibular weakness. As the system was stressed, balance worsened instead of improving. Energy dropped. Blood flow to the hands decreased. Focus became harder to maintain.

This is why assessment matters.

If your child is dealing with ongoing anxiety, attention challenges, or fatigue, make sure the vestibular system is properly evaluated. It can be one of the biggest drivers behind what you are seeing.

After a traumatic brain injury at just four months old, this little guy showed us what’s possible.

By day four of his intensive, he took 77 independent steps. He walked through the clinic, stopped to stabilize, and greeted his family in the waiting room. It was an incredible moment.

On his initial exam, we saw clear signs of cerebellar dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and mitochondrial stress. His brain was struggling to produce and use energy efficiently.

We combined laser therapy to the cerebellum and frontal lobe, a vibration plate to activate sensory input, and carefully reduced our physical support to encourage independence. Slowly, his balance centers started to activate.

He stood. He stepped. He walked. And we got to witness it.

Ever wonder why your kid’s whole body moves when they turn their head? 🤔

We ran a quick test. Arms out, eyes closed, feet together.

When we turned her head, her whole torso followed. That’s not supposed to happen.

This is a standing version of the ATNR reflex.

By 6 months old, that reflex should be gone. If it’s not, it causes problems with balance, coordination, even reading and focus.

She hasn’t learned how to move her head
independently of her body.

That’s a sign the brain is still using primitive patterns instead of mature motor control.

We don’t guess. We assess. And when we find the root cause, we can help rewire it. 🧠✨

Follow and Comment “FREE” below and we’ll send you simple at-home exercises to start working on these reflexes today 😊🙌

Most parents are never told how important the 6–12 month stage really is.

This window is not just about crawling or walking. It is when the brain learns how the right and left sides work together, how the eyes track, and how movement supports future learning.

When crawling is rushed, skipped, or disrupted, development often finds workarounds. Those workarounds can show up later as coordination challenges, reading struggles, or learning difficulties. Not because a child is broken. But because certain foundations were never fully supported.

Dr. Josh breaks this down in our free First Year Neurological Development Course, including why reflexes like the ATNR and STNR matter during early development and how they connect to movement and learning later on.
