If you missed Pink Conversation… you definitely missed something special. 💕

It was an intimate, honest, and much-needed space of healing and sisterhood. Huge thank you to Princess, owner of Everything Pretty in Gurnee, IL, for opening her doors to the community — and to our amazing guests: Keli Christian, a 3-year double mastectomy breast cancer survivor, Dr. Lisa Fields, and Therapist Daina Hunt for pouring so much love, truth, and wisdom into the room.

The energy? Unmatched. The conversation? Healing. The connection? Real.

✨ We heal together — and that’s how we build community. ✨
See you at the next one. đź’—

In light of the recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Lake County, the Lake County Clerk’s Office, in collaboration with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, Mano a Mano Family Resource Center, and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Of The Lakes have made the difficult decision to cancel this Saturday's event.

The Illinois Secretary of State’s Mobile DMV Unit will still be in Mundelein as planned, and those with existing appointments will receive an email with more information.

Somos Lake County was intended to bring our beloved community together to celebrate the vibrant Hispanic and Latino cultures that enrich Lake County.

The recent ICE activity has created fear and uncertainty amongst many who call Lake County home. This type of enforcement disrupts the community’s sense of safety which is vital to a healthy civic life. Masked federal agents operating in neighborhoods while children are in school and parents are working discourages community participation, weakens trust in local government, and undermines the values Somos Lake County intended to honor.

Our organizations stand with every resident – regardless of where they come from – during this painful time. We remain committed to fostering a community where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported.

We are grateful to all those who helped plan Somos Lake County and who share our values of a more inclusive and connected community, including Mundelein Park & Recreation District, Los Perez Supermarket- Mundelein, Ballet Folklorico Tayahua, Sub-Zero, Drip & Culture - Socially Minded Coffee, and Julio's Tacos Inc.. We look forward to future opportunities of celebrating diversity without fear.

---
