Burgers, Bacon and (root) Beer 🍔🥓🍺!

These last two days have been busy with celebrating the Brewers wins with free burgers, (thanks for the idea from George Webb) ⚾️🍔
Tasting some bacon made in three different ways for National Bacon day 🥓😋
And eating lunch at John’s drive in and trying their tasty Root Beer and famous chili cheese dogs! 🌭🍺
So much fun! 🤩

Celebrated Tropical Tuesday today here at New Perspective Waukesha! Dressed in our tropical clothes, made a cute creative beach scene treat and ended with a tropical party at Happy Hour! Now that’s what you call living live on purpose 🌺🌴🍍🏝️

On June 28th our Life Engagement Manager, Hannah, got married! The day wouldn’t have been complete without stopping in and seeing the residents at New Perspective! 🫶🏼🥹

From getting engaged, the planning process and even the residents, staff and their families throwing her a bridal shower - they have been through it all together! 💍💒

Residents, their families and our staff were all so excited to see the happy couple on their big day! 🎉

Now introducing our resident of the month for July, Pat! Pat has lived at New Perspective Waukesha for about 4 years now. She has lived in the Milwaukee area her entire life and was married for 25 years! She has 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren!

Her favorite thing about New Perspective Waukesha is the people and making them smile 😃 She loves getting to know new people and welcoming them!

Her favorite amenity is the second-floor balcony! She spends many hours a week outside sitting in the sun and reaching for her books!

Let’s give it up for Pat! 👏🏼

New Perspective- Waukesha celebrated Father’s Day on Saturday with our residents and their families with an amazing meal of steak, twice-baked potatoes and green beans! 🍽️ Paired with a smoked bourbon old fashioned 🥃

This week we are celebrating caregiver appreciation week! 🎉👏🏼 We could not thank our caregivers enough for the hard work and dedication that they have for our residents. If you visit our community or any others, don’t forget to thank the caregivers for all that they do 💪🏽🫶🏼

May has been filled with so many amazing memories and happy moments! We were able to celebrate our mothers on Mothers day with a "momosa" bar, flowers and cards made by our favorite students at WTA. Two very adorable baby goats, Tootsie Roll and Twixy stopped in for a visit. We had a French Fry bar thanks to our amazing kitchen staff. We even had a Margarita tasting for Cinco de Mayo! We are not sure how it is already June but we are excited to see what it holds for us here at New Perspective Waukesha 🥰

Our May resident of the month is Carol! ❤️
Carol has been a resident of our Betty's Harbor community for a little over two years. Carols homebase was Sheboygan where she met and married her husband, Donald. They were married in the 1970's and spent many happy years together! One of their favorite things to do together was attending car shows.

Carol remembers making and packaging shoes as her primary job. Although they never had any children, Carol is very close with her neices and nephews.

When asked what her favorite thing is about New Perspective, Carol answered "Lori and Mary" two of our life engagement coaches. 🙂

Betty’s Story

My mother-in-law, Betty, lived a full, vibrant life dedicated to helping others. After serving with distinction in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II, she became the sole supporter for her family after a car accident left her husband disabled. To make ends meet, she worked two jobs while caring for four children. Through her circumstances, Betty developed an independent spirit that carried her through all of her life experiences.

Years later, as a widow living alone, Betty developed Alzheimer’s. While she learned to cope with the early stages of the disease, it was clear that as her condition advanced, she was struggling to maintain her strong, independent spirit.

Over the seven years that Betty lived with us, we learned to find personal ways to keep her secure, yet socially involved. Feeling like she was home, and not just visiting. We recalibrated what we did as a family to create a culture that protected her dignity while encouraging her independence. Ultimately it was Betty’s life and character that helped to frame what New Perspective is all about today. To help seniors live life on purpose and to age successfully.

So, as you walk through our communities and you happen to hear someone say, “What’s best for Betty?” you’ll know that it is our way of continually focusing everything we do towards the best interests of our residents. To help each resident live life on purpose, each moment of each day.
