WHEN I AM AMONG THE TREES

When I am among the trees, especially the willows and the honey locust, equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,they give off such hints of gladness.

I would almost say that they save me, and daily. I am so distant from the hope of myself, in which I have goodness, and discernment, and never hurry through the world but walk slowly, and bow often.

Around me the trees stir in their leaves and call out, “Stay awhile.” The light flows from their branches. And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say, “and you too have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine.”

2) What would we like to let go of, from 2024? Unhealthy behaviors, actions, relationships, habits?

As we go through our day today and we answer these questions, what will you put in your ‘suitcase’ to bring with you into 2025?

As we enter the peak of the holiday season, let’s remember that the holidays can be hard for some. Whatever their reason may be, let us show kindness, if not everyone gets as excited as others. If you’re someone that struggles, know that it’s okay to feel your feelings.

Here’s a picture of an ice flower which is a naturally occurring phenomenon that happens in the Great Lakes Region. It seemed like a good reminder that there’s still beauty in tough conditions.
