Don’t we have another choice?

Recently I read an online newspaper column where a reader wrote to ask advice from a doctor about allergies. The reader was worried about reports that antihistamine medications can increase the risk of dementia, especially in older patients. That risk is higher with long term use of the medications. The reader wanted to know: Which is worse, having allergy symptoms, or taking zyrtec every day and risking dementia?

I thought to myself, “This is so sad– that the reader thinks those are the only choices.” Two choices, both of them unsatisfactory.

What’s worse, though, is that the doctor’s response also made a pick between those two choices!

He didn’t know that there is better choice. There is a way of dealing with allergies without taking medication, and without suffering either.

I used to be in the same predicament: thinking those were my only choices and taking medication every day.

Then I discovered a way to leave my allergy problems behind. I’m off all allergy medication, and I’ve never felt better!

I’m so excited about what I’m working on. I’m creating a way to make this method easy and accessible to everyone. I’ll let you know as soon as I have it ready!

Why do we have allergies?

An allergic reaction occurs when a person’s immune system becomes hypersensitive to certain substances, such as foods, pollen, medications, or bee venom.

A substance that causes an allergic reaction is called an allergen. Many allergens are everyday substances that are harmless to most people. However, anything can be an allergen if the immune system has a specific type of adverse reaction to it.

One of the roles of the immune system is to destroy harmful substances in the body. If a person has an allergy to a substance, their immune system will react as though that substance is harmful and will try to destroy it.

Allergies can cause the nose to look red in several ways. Hay fever, dust allergies, and pet allergies may cause sneezing and a runny nose.

Frequent nose-wiping can irritate the skin, creating a reddened appearance. Allergies may also cause blood vessels in and around the nose to swell or burst under the skin, making the nose look swollen and red.

Also, allergies to skin care and cosmetic products may irritate the surface of the skin, leaving it dry, red, flaky, or itchy.

Allergic reactions usually happen quickly within a few minutes of exposure to an allergen.

They can cause:

-Sneezing
-A runny or blocked nose
-Red, itchy, watery eyes
-Wheezing and coughing
-A red, itchy rash
-Worsening of asthma or eczema symptoms

Most allergic reactions are mild, but occasionally a severe reaction called anaphylaxis or anaphylactic shock can occur.

This is a medical emergency and needs urgent treatment.

Such as pollen, bee venom or pet dander — or a food that doesn't cause a reaction in most people.

Your immune system produces substances known as antibodies. When you have allergies, your immune system makes antibodies that identify a particular allergen as harmful, even though it isn't.

When you come into contact with the allergen, your immune system's reaction can inflame your skin, sinuses, airways or digestive system.

Drinking enough water each day is crucial for many reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood.

Stay Hydrated!

Allergies are common. They can occur in children and adults. People can have allergies to all sorts of things, including those in the environment, in foods and supplements, and in medications.

In some cases, you can outgrow certain allergies. If you or your child has food allergies, you may outgrow them, but you should ask your doctor to test you before reintroducing the food into your diet.

You can develop an allergy at any point in your life. Most people develop allergies during their childhood or young adult years, but you can develop them later in life, too. Seasonal allergies may develop as you age because you have an increased amount of exposure to environmental allergens, such as pollen.
