💗📣October benefits are available for WIC participants, and based on what we know today, November benefits will be available. You can use your WIC benefits, attend WIC appointments, and do not need to take any action.🍎🥦🍞

With the ongoing federal government shutdown, there may be delays or changes to some food assistance benefits in the coming weeks with FoodShare, therefore, consider stocking up on non-perishable items like canned goods, pasta, rice, and boxed meals when you’re able.

If you or someone you know needs additional food support, dial 211 or utilize the local food pantries and hot meal programs listed below.

🌌 We’re hearing there’s a chance to see the Northern Lights in our area on October 28! 🌠

🌌 We’re hearing there’s a chance to see the Northern Lights in our area on October 28! Last year around this time, visitors captured some amazing aurora photos from inside our parks – and if skies stay clear, it could be another beautiful show.

Our parks are open until 10 p.m., so come early, try to catch the aurora before closing, and then head home to keep watching!

A few quick tips for capturing the lights:
• Your camera can often see more than your eyes – try a few test shots even if the sky looks quiet.
• Explore night photography apps or settings that slow your shutter speed for better light capture.
• And if the aurora doesn’t appear, enjoy the nighttime sounds and serenity of the parks.

We’d love to see what you capture, if anything! Share your photos in the comments below. 🌠

Are you, or do you know, a WIC participant with valuable insight to share about the WIC program?

Then apply for, or nominate to, the National WIC Association’s Participant Advisory Council (PAC) as we are looking for more participants! NWA engages with PAC for a variety of reasons ranging from information gathering about the WIC experience to obtaining feedback on organizational projects and grants. All PAC members will be paid for their participation.
