Honestly, it’s almost always based on intuition.

I do select crystals to work with based on your intention for the session or to focus on a particular chakra, but sometimes one or two just pop into my head and I always listen. 👂

But these pretty babies are some that I’m called to again and again:

1-Golden Healer- 💛 associated with the solar plexus chakra, known for self healing properties, restoring confidence and personal power.

2- Smoky Quartz- 🖤 These babies are always on the table! I love to place them right at the feet to help my clients feel grounded and connected to the earth, both during and after their session. Also a great choice for protection and absorbing negative energy.

3-Mangano Calcite- Of course she’s here to support the 💗 heart chakra! The second I picked this stone up, it was like a wave of calm came over me. I tap into that memory every time I use it in a session, and I hope you can feel it too. 🥰 Promotes inner peace, compassion, harmony, and heart healing.

Let’s talk about glute work!!

If you’ve been getting massage for awhile, you’re probably (hopefully!) familiar with glute work. But if not, you may have questions, like:

*WHY would you massage my butt?

* Can I keep my underwear on?

* Will I feel too exposed with direct work?

And I’m here to answer them all!

1- Lots of muscles here, working hard, often ignored! The position of your hips relates to muscle tension. Glutes are often the source of low back pain. Everything is connected and glutes are a big piece of the puzzle that we shouldn’t ignore.

2- Absolutely you can. I do glute work through the sheet all the time. Your comfort is the most important thing!

3- My clients don’t- I’m careful to drape appropriately and hold the edge of the sheet down with one hand while I work. But if you do? We switch back to working through the sheet! Keeping you comfy and your nervous system feeling safe is priority #1.

Hormonal birth control isn’t regulating, balancing, or healing your cycle.

In many cases, it’s simply shutting it down. If you aren’t ovulating (which is how many birth control pills work), you aren’t having a period- you’re having a withdrawal bleed on the week the hormones in your meds are adjusted.

No shade to anyone who wants to use birth control- your body is YOURS and yours alone- but I want people to be able to make a truly informed decision.

Can stopping your cycle effectively manage your symptoms? Maybe!

Will that effect go away as soon as you’re off birth control? Are there other things to consider when a normal bodily function causes pain and distress every month? 🤷‍♀️ Good questions to think about.

Using birth control to manage period symptoms is no more “regulating” your cycle than me duct taping some broken glasses is “fixing” them.

If your period sucks, it’s time to look into the root cause. That might mean getting hormone testing done, trying acupuncture, or simply starting by tracking your cycle. Knowledge is power, baby!

Lifestyle changes like nutrition and sleep can help, and so can self care practices like pelvic steaming. Personally, l see a big difference in how my cycle looks when I stay on top of my steam routine and when I let it slide!

📢📢 MASSAGE SHOULDN’T HURT!!!

And it doesn’t have to in order for us to get results.

Yes, there are many different styles of bodywork and techniques used. And yes, some are going to be more intense than others. There’s a big difference between “intensity” and “pressure” and outright pain.

I’m talking bruises, guys. I’m talking “I had to breathe through it” and “I just wanted to end the session and leave.” I’m talking clients who told their therapist to lighten up and were basically told that they’re WRONG, and if you can’t tell, I’m mad as hell about it.

If you’ve experienced a session like this,
I’m sorry. Please know that pressure is *subjective*- one person’s mild-medium might leave another person sore for days. You know what’s right for your body and where the line is, and anybody you trust to put their hands on you needs to respect it.

I truly believe there is a great massage therapist out there for everyone! And if you want bodywork that’s effective, but also deeply relaxing, I just might be the one for you. 😊

If your period sucks, keep reading 👇

I know that it’s super COMMON to be miserable when you bleed, but let’s make sure we stop calling it NORMAL.

It’s not normal and it’s not okay that an automatic biological process that happens on a monthly basis for half the population is painful. Push back on that bu****it. Ask for more answers and demand better solutions.

Pelvic steaming could be a great tool to add when it comes to supporting healthy, regular periods that don’t make you want to curl up in a ball and d i e. It’s natural, simple, and gentle. You can do it at home easily. And it’s honestly a lovely experience. 🥰

It’s a LOT right now. I know we’ve been saying that for way too long. It’s something new and horrifying every day- we are overloaded and overwhelmed.

I would love to have each and every one of you on my table for a nice long session, to help you escape your worries and the never ceasing thoughts for a while. But maybe you don’t have an hour to spare. Maybe it’s just not in the budget.

Community Reiki is my way of making sure everyone gets a chance to feel that peace, to get grounded and rebalanced. Every little bit helps and we all need to take care of ourselves and each other.

These 20 minute Reiki sessions are completely donation based and yes, that can absolutely mean free. It can mean $5 or a cool sticker. It can mean a hug and a “we’ll get through this”. Just come, if you need a break. Come, if you need to feel like everything is okay for a minute, when everything is most definitely not okay.

Today is World Mental Health Day!

Mental and emotional well being are *just* as important as physical health. I love that my job allows me to help you walk away from our time together feeling calm, safe, grounded, and at home in your body again.

Massage is so wonderful for this, but Reiki takes it to another level. :) If you haven’t been formally introduced yet, let me tell you all about it!

Reiki is an energetic healing practice that originated in Japan and is now widely used around the world. The simplest way to describe it to those already familiar with massage is that it’s like a “massage for the soul”.

During a Reiki session, the receiver will lay fully clothed on the massage table while the practitioner places their hands on or above the body to allow Reiki to flow. Your only job is to just be present, relax, and receive. It’s often described as a meditative experience.

Reiki is so helpful for general stress, anxiety, grief, trouble sleeping…the list goes on! The best thing I can tell you about how Reiki feels for me personally is that it always makes me feel like everything is okay- even if just for a few minutes. It’s like being wrapped in the warmest hug and knowing you’re absolutely safe and held.

I’m excited to start offering gua sha for the face and scalp! These are spots that usually don’t get enough focus during your massage (and they *need* it).

If you’re not familiar, gua sha is a skin rejuvenation and healing technique that uses light scraping to boost circulation and release muscle tension.

This special attention to the face and scalp feels sooooo good, and can release a lot of stress you might not even realize you’re holding in those areas. Gua sha could be particularly helpful if your suffer from headaches or TMJ issues.
