WINTER PARKING ORDINANCE:
This is what you need to know about the new winter parking ordinance, which is in effect from November 15 through April 1:

No parking on any street from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. in the downtown business district area outlined in red in the photo.

Residential properties within this district and throughout the city are not subject to these requirements but are subject to the following:

No person shall park, abandon, or leave unattended any vehicle on a public street, alley, or off-street parking area during a snow emergency as proclaimed by the mayor, unless snow has been removed or plowed, and snowfall has ceased.

A snow emergency will be in effect when the accumulation of snow is forecasted to exceed 3 inches in Waukon, as predicted by the National Weather Service. The snow emergency will continue for 24-hours after cessation of such storm unless streets are reopened sooner.

Vehicles in violation will be cited and/or towed.

Notification to citizens of a snow emergency will be broadcasted on LA Communication radio stations and the Waukon Police Department social media sites.
