Nourish: /ˈnəriSH/ 1. provide with the food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition. 2. keep (a feeling or belief) in one's mind, typically for a long time.

2024 is my year to nourish. I want to make intentional choices for myself and my family to nourish us in the best ways I can. This looks like choosing to be present and putting my phone down more. This also looks like choosing foods that provide nutrients, but don’t add stress. I want to support the emotional growth for my kids, which means leading by example. I want to add fun into my life: reading books, playing games, and getting outside because I can, not because I have to.

Last year, I chose the word simplicity and DANG IT WAS GOOD. I found systems to add ease to my life, eliminated unnecessary complexities, created habits that were sustainable long term. Turns out I was creating A LOT of unnecessary stress and chaos to my life. There is so much I cannot control, so I tried to release that stress and simplify the things I am in control of.

Was I perfect? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Did I get way closer to the life I want that I was at the beginning of 2023? Sure did!

I can’t wait to see how 2024 transforms my life.

Do you have a word for 2024? Share with me!

In love and light,
Dr. Machesney

Hi!

My name is Dr. Machesney Thiel, DC. I wear a lot of hats, but don’t we all?

I’ve spent quite a bit of time away this year, and I’m still here growing and learning + creating for us. 2023 knocked me down and humbled me. I spent a LOT of time behind the scenes learning, growing, breaking apart old thought processes, and creating new ideals.

I learned how to be a medical mama and created a Health Helper organizational journal to help other mamas, parents, or children who are in a primary caregiving and management role.

I fell deeper in love with NeuroEmotional Technique because of the healing I was able to do with it.

I’ve honed prenatal techniques and nutritional support protocols because SO many people in my life are pregnant or preparing to be (what a blessing!)

But most of all, I’m thankful you’re here in the ups and downs. I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store.

Yesterday, we decided outside was the place to be! Wisconsin winter certainly gave us a run for our money, but this weather is absolutely redeeming. Catch us outside getting that sunshine and warm air šŸŒž

The youngest baby we’ve adjusted was 47 minutes old. Too soon? We don’t think so, not at all. We got to remove a subluxation so she could transition to life outside the womb with full nervous system function. It was a great birth: no trauma, no intervention, incredible connection and alertness. Nothing was ā€œwrong,ā€ but the gentle adjustment gave her the ability to take in her new world without the interference of a subluxation.

At Bloom, we love to see fresh babies. We don’t think there is a time too soon to check your precious babe for subluxation. We are trained and certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association to work with pregnant people and the babies they raise. We’re passionate about serving families and supporting them to thrive.

Yesterday a memory popped up on my Facebook. Hello flash back to old school Facebook status updates and high school girl wording. This memory was from 13 years ago (5 year timehop + 8 year memory) and it hit me like a train. I had just had my first of many spinal blocks. I was 16.

A few things came flooding in. First, all of the things I’ve accomplished in the last 13 years became even more remarkable. It reminded myself of just how sick I was and how grim my future looked. I was in so much pain I couldn’t walk. I was so heavily medicated I couldn’t talk. I remember leaving that appointment and being able to walk without pain through the parking garage to the car. I climbed into my mom’s SUV quickly and with ease. Those are things I hadn’t been able to do in months. I’m still shocked at how quickly my experience changed that day in that procedure.

Next: I am so proud of myself. I know that I made the best decision with what I knew at the time. Would I make the same decision with the information I have now? ABSOLUTELY NOT. But with what I knew and the resources I had, I did my best and that’s amazing.

Finally back to present day me: I did it. I became the practitioner I needed and couldn’t find. I’ve invested in my career in chiropractic, focusing on pediatrics and pregnancy as well as NeuroEmotional Technique to support mind-body wellness. Living is a complex experience and I get to support people in a holistic way to live life with more ease.

XO,
Dr. Chez

A common myth we hear is that once you see a chiropractor you ~have~ to go for the rest of your life.

Short answer: untrue.

Slightly longer answer: maybe you’ll want to!

Long answer: it’s truly up to you. At Bloom, we take a nervous system based approach. This means at each visit, we look at how your brain and spinal cord are communicating and operating within your body. When you have a subluxation, it's your nervous system working its hardest to adapt, but showing it could use some support. Subluxations can happen at any day in your life. Kids, specifically, are growing at astronomical rates, and we believe that growing and learning is best done without nervous system interference, so yes, we do want to get you checked!

🌟10 years🌟

Today marks 10 years of remission. I have been living free from Reflexive Sympathetic Dystrophy for a decade. I am so proud of myself and my body for overcoming and healing from and incredibly detrimental and overwhelming diagnosis.

My experience with RSD included
-loss of ability to walk
-10/10 pain for days and weeks
-up to 42 pills a day (taken as prescribed)
-loss of ability to speak due to prescription side effects
-absent for more than 1/3 of my high-school days

What I've done since getting myself into remission:
-graduated high school with honors
-moved to and through 6 states
-graduated with a bachelor's of science in Health Sciences
-got married to my incredible husband
-supported him in his military career and re-enlistments
-graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic
-had a baby
-LIVED, truly and fully lived

None of this was even imaginable before remission. All I can really say is I'm so proud of myself and my body, and WOW life is incredible and I'm so thankful I get to live it freely and fully. Cheers!
