It’s Harvest Festival week in Wauneta! While we aren’t hosting anything at Wauneta Care and Therapy Center this year, there’s a ton of fun happening all around town—parades, games, medallion hunts and more.

If you’re out and about, we’d love for you to swing by the nursing home—maybe after you find the medallion, following the parade, or before the softball games. We love this community and all that it has to offer, and we’d be thrilled to see your smiling faces!

Our Employee Enrichment Team coordinated an ice cream tasting for employees with four creative flavors from The Scoop Ice Cream in McCook. Staff voted on their favorite flavorand then the residents will get to try it at Farmer's Cafe next week!

Flavors were:
🍨Huckleberry
🍨Butterbrickle
🍨Dulce de Leches
🍨Blueberry Cheesecake

Meet Marcos – Our Registered Dietitian!
Marcos joined Wauneta Care and Therapy Center after seeing a real need for a registered dietitian in our community—and we’re so glad he did! As a father of three, he was drawn to WCTC for its family values and small-town heart.

With a background that includes everything from university dining and clinical nutrition to public schools and dialysis care, Marcos brings a wealth of knowledge (and flavor!) to our dietary program.

His favorite part? Serving up meals that are both nutritious and delicious—and knowing each plate helps improve the lives of our residents and staff.

Through our Gift of Grain program, local farmers can donate a portion of their harvest (in any amount of your choosing) directly to WCTC. Here's how it works:

🌾You donate grain at anFrenchman Valley Coop location.
🌾WCTC receives the proceeds from the sale.
🌾You receive potential tax benefits — because it's not considered income, you may save on federal, state, and self-employment taxes.

It’s a meaningful way to support the care and services we provide for our residents while also stewarding your resources wisely.
